The project with DJC General Contractors went GREAT! Not only were they extremely professonal, experienced and expert at their craft and how they ran the project, but they were able to provide me a variety of approaches to help keep costs in line with our expectations. This was a completely unplanned expense for us which had a fairly high price tag, so we really appreciated that they were able to lay out the pros and cons and help us make informed decisions. A year ago, I made the mistake of hiring someone from Craigslist to do what I thought was a simple job of securing the railing around our 2nd story balcony. Turned out, the more he started tearing into the balcony and siding, the more issues he found. We realized too late that he was not nearly skilled enough for the job, so we halted the project and waited for the next summer to hire a qualifed general contractor. I learned my lesson! I got bids from three companies, one of which was DJC General Contractors. I ended up hiring DJC because I was impressed with the project lead, Tim Collins, who was very personable, frank in his assessment of the issues and by far the most creative in terms of providing good solutions for the more challenging issues. I felt that DJC really understood that I didn't want to sacrifice top quality workmanship for price, but definitely needed to control costs.Tim managed the project and was also the hands-on builder along with another longtime DJC employee. He was punctual, always let me know if he needed to change his schedule and completed the project on time and with no surprise costs. They kept the job sites clean and safe for our son and dog and were always pleasant to have around. We are really pleased with the outcome of the project and plan on using DJC for our upcoming remodeling projects -- two bathrooms and eventually our kitchen. DJC is a small firm who likes to get to know their customers and who want to provide the best customer experience possible. I highly recommend them to anyone who wants a job well done and a company they can count on.
