The new fire station which is still unfit to occupy is plagued with infrastructure problems due to shoddy workmanship by Bayley Construction
The taxpayers of Burien and Normandy park do not have a new fire station which was supposed to be completed over a year ago because Bayley Construction has failed to meet their contractual obligations.
Problems include an incorrectly graded roof which has resulted in large pools of stagnant water accumulating on the top of the building. Exterior masonry that contains incorrectly placed rebar not to code which has resulted in rebar rusting through more than 200 brick sections. This includes cornice pieces and bullnose pieces at eye level and numerous lintel pieces brickwork that frames the windows top and bottom. Code requires that rebar be set at one and a half inches from the the surface. None of the sections noted above met that code.
All of the expensive bay doors are warped at the seal and are out of spec. The are not tight at ground level out of spec that requires them to be level and square between an eighth of an inch and they are off by an inch and a half.
Bayley Construction has failed to correct any of these defects and only offered bandaid fixes that are unacceptable for long term viability of this building.
I strongly recommend NOT using this contractor otherwise you may end up in court which is where we are heading to force this terrible contractor to do meet their contractual obligations.
