They were really good and accommodating to our dog. He always came back happy and didn't seem like he was in distress  from being in a new.

Hi.
I heard about West Wind Kennels from a friend who recommended them to me. We wanted to board our dog for 7 days and were looking out for Kennels in Spokane. This Kennel appealed to me because it's only 10 minutes to the airport which was good for our timetable.
We drove by a week in advance and talked to the owner who showed us the facility. Everything made a clean impression and the owner explained that we could bring our food for our Yello Lab if we wanted too. Otherwise he would feed Attaboy from Costco. We decided to go with the food our dog likes because he is a little bit picky. And we never tried the other one before. At the end of the tour the owner also told us to bring something that the dog can chew on or play with, or something to lay on so he has something he knows in his kennel.
He also offered us that our dog could play outside in a new designed play area which I think is nice when you have a big dog like us. And it was only 1 dollar a day so we booked that too.
When we came back our dog was of course happy to see us. We couldn't really see a big effect on him s which is awesome because we probaly have to board him around Christmas again.
I was searching around for kennels on the internet for a long time and found prices which are sometimes soo high that we were even thinking about bringing out dog with us on the trip.
At first I couldn't believe the cheap $9 a day charge and was waiting for extra costs. But there weren't any! The owner told me that he just wants the peoples to come back and by running the kennel together with his wife he can afford to have these cheap prices.
So under the line: Clean, cheap, dog was happy, we will go there again!

We had an emergency trip and had to find a good kennel. Most were full and I had heard about West Wind from a neighbor who takes her dog there.
We got there early evening, about 15 minutes before they closed. We walked in and it looked clean. A woman named Vicki who is the owner with her husband, Gary, took us to the area where the kennels are. They were a bunch of woodenand quot;boxesand quot; built side by side and I thought they were for storage. No, she opened one box and we had to lift one dog and PUT HIM IN THE BOX. Same with our other two who were smaller than our big dog and they went in one together; then the lid is closed on them. I understand there are small kennels leading outside from the boxes (opening in the wall to get out). I was appalled and my dogs were terrified.
I gave Vicki their food and blankets. Her husband Gary had told me on the phone if we didn't bring our food it was OK because they feed the dogs Atta Boy, one of the worst non-nutritional dog foods.
We drove home to finish packing to leave early the next morning and I cried all the way home. We left for the trip and the 3rd day we were gone, I called to see how my and quot;babiesand quot; were doing which I've always done with pet sitters and another kennel we had used (which was full at this time we needed). Gary answered the phone and I said Hello, my name, and cheerfully said I just wanted to check in and see how our dogs were doing. His first response was abrupt and rude and he said, and quot;why, were you expecting a problemand quot;? I was taken aback and said and quot;no, I always check on my dogs and that's why I'm calling.and quot; He said and quot;well, if there was a problem I'd be calling the vet before calling you.and quot; He said he was walking them; I suppose he was.
A friend called me out of town and asked how we were doing, and I told her about the kennel and the treatment. She also felt that the attitude was inappropriate. She said she'd go out there and visit the dogs, and at first I thought that was a great idea. Then I told her not to, as I didn't want Gary getting an attitude, and I didn't want my dogs being taken care of in that type of environment.
We picked them up after a total of six days. We arrived as fast as we could from the airport, several minutes before they closed. Vicki checked us out, she was polite and professional but mentioned possibly charging for another day since we were so near closing time. She didn't charge for that; she got all our blankets and the food for us to load the car. The blankets smelled like urine and by then, I was disgusted. My dogs were literally withdrawn and quiet the next 3 days and I felt that them staying at West Wind really affected them.
So, I've seen good reviews and bad reviews for them and this was my experience, and I was amazed my neighbor even recommended them! Never again.
