Servpro of Everett/Smokey Point

Description of Work: Darren(construction mgr) came out to give us an estimate for some smoke/fire damage in our crawl space. He and I went down to see the damage. He walked around and looked at the damage for 5 minutes then said he would contact our adjuster w/ an estimate and scope of work. After we received a estimate and scope of work, I noticed that there was some damaged items not in the scope of work so i wanted to get a second quote. A few days past and we received an email from Darren asking about the work. We told him that we were still getting quotes and hadnt decided on who to do the work. We immediately received an email w/ an invoice for $380.10 for "generating a scope of work" and would be deducted if we used his co. There was never any discussion at any time about a fee for anything. I found it very suspicious that this "fee" was added when we told him we were still getting quotes. I told them we are not paying this "fee" and wouldnt use his company. The next day i received a letter from the owner Sterling Summers trying to threaten us w/ a lien if we didnt pay. He said "when we asked Darren to contact our adjuster and negotiate on our behalf" that this constituted a verbal contract and added a googled definition of "verbal contract" I replied that I never asked him to do anything. Darren said he would contact our adjuster and negotiating never came up at all. I told him why would I ask him to negotiate anything for me when all i pay is my deductible. I found a RCW for frivolous liens and added that to the letter. That was the last I've heard from them. I had J Tatman construction co. come out to check out the damage. He took pictures, found some wood damage that Servpro mgr didnt find and explained what should be done. We had them do the work at about 20% of Servpro of Everetts bid. And everything is back the way it was prior to the fire.
