bathroom and shower design! Our bathroom shower has 3 windows, and a
self-built, drop-in round bathtub. We used 12X24 tile. Tom made precision,
gradual tile cuts to follow all the window raps, arches, and drop-in tub.
Tom also rounded the edges of all the end tile pieces-
making it look like bullnose - but better!
Tom is a perfectionist and it shows! Our shower
and built-in shower shelves are like a usable, working ART of the
highest quality! Tom took all the time that was needed to make sure
every cut was just right - he did not charge us for any additional time
it took him to make this project be perfect.
Tom also used the Kerdi waterproofing system and
the installation was stellar...up to code
and under warranty. We give Tom the highest of recommendations!
Tom is a rare find - A MASTER TILE ARTIST!
I was right away impressed by Tom's manners over the phone. He was courteous and also very knowledgeable about all types of tile. He came over to provide me with an estimate and independently contacted the tile manufacturer to ensure the mortar he was considering for the tiles would work. He then researched and directed me to a store that sold urethane grout, which was not available at the local Home Depot.
Tom was very meticulous in his work. He spent much longer than expected on the first day to lay the tiles, despite the fact that I had laid out the pattern on cardboard platforms, because he is so detail oriented. He came back a few days later to grout and again did an excellent job. The tile back splash looks gorgeous.
My only problem is that he was unable to grout on the day he said he would because he had loaned his saw to someone and that person had not returned the correct parts to Tom. I wasted my entire day because I had rescheduled other appointments around this job. But this was my only problem. Tom came right back and completed the job two days later. On the other days, Tom made sure he called if he was getting delayed for any reason. Usually it was due to traffic.
Tom also addressed our concerns about one tile that had been cut too wide around an electrical outlet very courteously. He first said he would try to apply more grout and that if that did not satisfy us, he would do, "anything it takes to get it right". We were really relieved to hear that. However, we were satisfied by the application of some extra grout near the outlet .
All in all, we had a very positive experience working with Tom and would highly recommend him.
