"I was indignant, yet here you are writing a dishonest, review 3 years after you say you did the same on another website. Sounds like you enjoy re-read negative reviews you have posted about businesses. After Angi customers read our many 5-star reviews I think they will clearly see who is being indignant. We did not pull a no show no call. You called me three days before our original start date. I was home sick in bed. I told you this and told you our whole crew was sick the entire week. On the phone, I told you I was planning on contacting you the next morning to tell you we would have to delay our start date. Delays from weather, client changes and unforeseen circumstances that do arise occasionally. You were the reason for the delay the last 10 days due to your schedule. From the very beginning you tried to change the scope of work from the estimate. I reminded you our agreement was for a set number of hours and RR Ties. I told you we were happy to accommodate your requests, but there would be additional costs. Your reply was, no, just continue with the original plan. We were unable to finish the project because we ran out of RR Ties because so many of your RR Ties were rotten. I asked if you wanted us to buy more RR Ties to finish the project. Your reply was “no.” To summarize you tried to change the scope of the work without having to pay additional costs and we were unable to finish the project. Every day you had some complaint about something, which I always tried to address but communicating with you was like pulling teeth. When I tried to get details about your issues you would just say, “forget it, just continue with the original plan” I tried to accommodate your requests and complete your project the way you wanted. I do take the blame for taking on this project though. I should have seen this coming when you told me the company that worked on your other wall told you they did not want to work on Railroad Tie walls anymore. After our experience, I think they just did not want to work with you again."
"We were contracted by this customer to install a French drain. When I met with him, he gave me a printed list of what he wanted done. I took some measurements for the work he asked to be done and sent him the proposal. He agreed to the work to be done with his signature on the proposal. The day after we completed installation of the drain system. He sent me an email informing me that his HOA was not happy about how good the drain was working. The water from the drain was running down his property onto the sidewalk. And, how he did not follow HOA protocol and submit the work to them for approval before hand. He ended that email with the following quotes, "I know this will be extra expense if the drain is further altered". And, "Thanks for being so professional and putting up with our crazy neighborhood. I will be relieved to get your take on the situation Monday." Another quote from one of his emails, "My head has been spinning with this project once the HOA took an interest. Thanks for your patience". On the following Monday we discussed several options. First was a dry well which would keep the water on his property. He asked if we could tie it into his downspouts. I said yes, but I don't recommend it. Next, I suggested tying it into the storm drain in the street. Or, install a channel drain across the sidewalk to the storm drain. I explained to him that doing anything that required tearing up a sidewalk/curb would require a permit and could get costly depending on what the city would require him to do. I told him that if he didn't want to deal with the city and permits. One solution might be to run a 2" ABS pipe under the sidewalk to a large gap at a joint in the curb that could allow the water to drain into the street next to the storm drain. He was told this would not be a city approved method. After discussing the different options, he asked us to give him an estimate for the 2" pipe under the sidewalk idea. I told him that I would get that to him ASAP. A few days later he sent me the following email, "I want to get city approval for any drainage routing that goes onto city property. I will take the responsibility for this. Please stop work on any activity related to the routing of water out of the drain exit that has already been installed. Please send me the quote for the work that has already been performed and I will pay it promptly. I consider this project complete and am going to solicit other quotes for the future work." All business's including contractors are city licensed unless they are located outside of city limits. If he had told us that he wanted to run this system out to the storm drain in the street. We could have gotten the proper permits and done that from the beginning. Just like we have many times before. I think, because he didn't get approval from his HOA and they ultimately disapproved of the system he had us install. To satisfy his HOA, (It is the customers responsibility to make sure any work done complies with Their HOA rules and policies) he had to extend the system to the storm drain. Which ended up costing more money than he was wanting to have to spend. Which is why I believe he gave us an F grade. We did the work he wanted. He said that we installed the drain as proposed, which he signed off on. And, the drain worked well. The image he posted is also several weeks or months after the completion of the project. Someone clearly drove thru the lawn and the grass seed we put down has completely filled in. If you read our other review's I think it will be clear on how this project actually evolved."
