The job was done fine, except we found he broke crawlspace window
, he promised he will fix it.
We did kitchen remodel few weeks ago, after cabinets opened, we found the drywall Under kitchen was broken. There is a hole opened between crawlspace and floor The crawl space window sealing still open We were shocked when see how the job was done.
Drywall broken without sealing
Crawlspace sealing broken without re-sealing
Left a hole between floor and crawlspaces.
I am shocked at what I am seeing, given we paid high price and low quality service
I have pictures available to share, if I can post
I described the intermittent leak we'd been experiencing. He explained how faucets work, and due to a stripped screw with my current faucet which prevented replacing the internal cartridge, I needed to replace the entire unit.
Price seems high, in retrospect, but the work was done very quickly.
"We were actually there in April, but you are reviewing us in August, rather than just calling us when the problem was not fixed to your satisfaction and you were definitely not taken advantage of. We don't operate that way. All you had to do was call if the toilet is still giving you problems as we guarantee our work. There is no pressure to buy the new water heater. Phil was merely informing you that the tank needs to be replaced and trying to help you avoid a catastrophe. When water heaters go, they can cause a huge mess and we want our customers to be aware that this is a possibility. The rate going up was not a scare tactic. The government created new standards in April and as soon as all the water heaters in stock were gone, the price went up due to the new federal standards. We had no control over this. Again, if you'd just called us, we could have explained this to you."
Given my home's history, I signed up for the Lifetime Diamond Club membership that includes lifetime warranty on all fixtures provided and installed by Steve's, no limit to # of fixtures covered, annual inspection of all piping, drains,, valves and fixtures with free adjustments and without a service call charge, priority service, and a 15% discount on repairs.
One of the upgrades I made in 2010 was to a tankless water heater, the Eternal Hybrid Water Heater with a Comfort Series circulating pump. It was installed in my garage by Steve's Plumbing. There was a problem with the Eternal circulating pump which Steve's changed out right away without charge, and they reported the problem to the manufacturer. The heater has been working since. Cost before tax: $4354 (heater) + $552 (circ pump) = $4906.
I recently received a notice from the manufacturer, Eternal, dated 3/6/15, stating that there have been problems with the factory-installed Water Pressure Switch (WPS) and that they will pay for the installation of an updated WPS. I scheduled my Steve's Plumbing annual plumbing inspection shortly after receiving that letter.
I always request Richard Saxton as my plumber - he is highly skilled (20 + years experience), professional, patient and thorough in his explanations, has always been straight with me about what is going on with my plumbing and the risks and benefits of various courses of action.
During this year?s annual inspection, Richard started with a thorough inspection of my Eternal tankless water heater and found signs of corrosion. He told Steve (owner of the plumbing co), that he wasn't happy with what he was seeing in the water heater, and Richard showed me the problem areas.
The result was that Richard took out the Eternal heater and installed a new Navien Condensing Tankless Water Heater with a recirculating line at no cost to me. Cost before tax: $5354 (heater) + $677 (recirc line) = $6031. Richard then completed the annual inspection of all my plumbing and made any needed adjustments. I owed nothing for all this work, not even a service call charge.
Needless to say, I'm so glad I found Steve's Plumbing and Richard Saxton, and joined as a Lifetime Diamond Club member!
"We are very sorry that you've had some problems. It's too bad you didn't call us right away when you felt we'd done something wrong. After I read this I went back and pulled all your service records. Your date of service is incorrect, it was actually 4/7/2010 that we had our plumber out to your home to install a dishwasher air gap and he also replaced a broken emergency stop under your kitchen sink. Neither of these tasks require cutting any holes, so we think it's possible that you are blaming the wrong company. In addition, we did not install your water heater. Our plumbers routinely put stickers on water heaters so our customers know to call us for service, but I checked all your service records and we never installed a water heater for you. However, an expansion tank is a very important install on an electric water heater. You are correct that it isn't required by the city of Seattle, but it is required every where else, so our plumber was not incorrect when he said it was missing and necessary. All you had to do was call us if you felt there was a problem. It's been over four years since we were at your home to install the dishwasher air gap. We were at your home six months later and you never indicated you had a problem so this is very confusing that you would write us a negative review four years and one service call after the incident."
