Took a few samples on my own using the necessary precautions mentioned on their website. The person in charge of the Seattle lab (Cassie) informed me that each sample will be considered as 2 materials – paint + ceiling material. And each material would cost $50 for a 1 business day test & $80 for an expedited test. She emailed the results in 4 hours.

I called on a Monday and they were very prompt about getting an inspector at our house. I did not need the test done immediately, so I scheduled for a Friday. I was told over the phone the inspector would be $250 to visit the home and take samples and each sample collected would be $50. When they showed up at my house, on time, they pulled up in a very fancy car, not one I would expect an inspector would drive. Steve and his wife were very dressed up to take samples in my opinion. We filled out a form to allow them to take samples in our home and then we showed them around our house. He had comments about every area we wanted to sample and provided suggestions. When taking the samples, he did not take any precautions, meaning no gloves, mask, goggles, or anything. I was a little shocked but did not say anything, now I regret it. Since we are going to demo parts of the house, we were okay with him punching into some walls to get samples. To his credit, a lot of the samples he was taking he mentioned he was not concerned about them but we insisted they be tested anyway. He was mostly concerned with finding old ductwork asbestos tape (our furnace and ductwork was replaced 10 years ago). He did mention that once we start pulling up floorboards and knocking walls around and we find something suspicious, he would come back to our house to take the sample and only charge us for the sample testing, not his visit. We might take him up on that offer if we find something. After the samples were taken, meaning placed into small baggies and labeled, he told me I could pick up my report at their Lynnwood lab since I did not have a checkbook with me. The lab called me on Monday around 11:30 am to tell me the report was complete. So, I headed to their lab, very easy to find, and picked up my report (one page in length describing the percent of material in each sample). Overall, I would use them again, but their pricing is quite high. I think they have a monopoly on the asbestos testing in the Seattle area. I would also just take the samples myself and bring them to the lab.

Steve and partner came out to take samples for asbestos testing. I scheduled last-minute and they were very accommodating. They were prompt, professional, and I had test results within hours. A bit expensive, but worth it, in my opinion.

Steve came out with his wife and took the samples. They did not wear any kind of protective masks, gloves or clothing while taking samples. In fact they were actually "dressed up". His wife wore so many huge, sparkly rings that I'm not sure how she could even write. He did not bother to look around to see if there were additional places that may need to be tested. No opinions or information was given as I had expected. I was given a form to sign and a total to pay. That's it. From the beginning I felt like they were trying to charge more than they should. Their website had two rates to come out for sampling, and he asked for the higher rate when I called. I told him I thought we were in the less expensive zone, and he said we were near the border, but immediately agreed to do it for the lower price. Then they charged $50.00 per sample which was supposed to be for 24 hour results (which I told them I didn't need). The sample was taken on Friday morning. I got an email on Monday afternoon with the name of one abatement company to contact and their phone number. This made me quite angry. My husband and I intentionally hired a company that did not do both the testing and the abatement work to make sure we got fair results. This looked liked a "kickback" opportunity to us. I emailed a response that I wanted to see the actual test results, as I had expected. By Tuesday afternoon I had still not gotten the results, so I called Steve. He said he would call me back. Instead I received an email with the results. I did not feel like this was an honest business from start to finish. And I left feeling over-charged and taken advantage of. At best I was over-charged by $30.00. The one positive thing that I can say is from my initial phone call, they did call back immediately and were out the following day to take the samples.

All went well except for the fact that the pricing on their website is a bit misleading. Great professional staff!

I emailed the address given at the company's website (& on Angie's List summary of company) over a 3-day weekend and received a reply from the owner that same day! He said they could come look at the ceilings (in 5 rooms and 1 hallway in our home) on the day and time I asked about, just 2-3 days later. He gave advice on which areas to sample (fewer samples than I probably would have taken; his reasoning was very sound). I received the report by email the same day (positive for asbestos in the older part of the house - too bad, but important to know).

I opted to collect the samples. I downloaded and filled out their chain of custody form and mailed in the samples. I requested for them to call me with the results and e-mail me a report. Within a couple of days I got a phone call telling me the results. In a week I got a report e-mailed to me. I had to call (nudge) to get that report, but I understand people being busy. My expectations were fully met.

Steve was prompt, professional and extremely speedy. It was less than 72 hours from my first inquiry call to receiving the completed report. After determining that asbestos did lurk in our house, Steve advised us on who to contact and what to do to arrange for removal.
