We decided to hire this company because they could do metal framework with sheet rock in the unfinished daylight basement of our 1983 home. Dwayne and I both felt at the end of the project that his company was a bad fit for my small remodel. The work failed the Kirkland Building Code Inspection for several problems during the project. Dwayne was very pleasant and great about getting someone out each time to fix the issue so in the end everything was up to code. The framing and insulation work was satisfactory. If you don't get a permit in Kirkland, you have a problem selling your home in the future. Dwayne expects the home owner to apply for the permit and be there for the inspections. It was my mistake to not interview more contractors due to the COVID19 crisis. The scope of the project changed after the project was underway which continued to add more costs and time with each change including those necessary for passing inspection. What upset me was the finishing work. The sheet rock walls were uneven with a big gap at the bottom in some places; trade damage and holes in the already finished walls were not filled in properly before priming as promised; and the man cutting the holes for the can lights, heat vents and outlets did a horrible job of it. Something that was impossible for them to fix once it was done. Don't have this company do the painting if you hire them for sheet rock work in your home. I trusted him to make sure his workers did an exemplary job without my supervision and ended up very disappointed. I could have done a much better job myself! The only primer Dwayne uses is grey. Who does that when the walls are going to be light yellow? I would have provided quality white primer if he had told me this ahead of time. They didn't cut in with the paint at the top and bottom of the walls when putting on the first and second coat so the grey showed through in spots. The bare beam has paint stains, the ceiling has roller marks, the walls have scars, and the paint has dirt bits embedded in it. Things they were not able to correct despite coming out several times so I had to do touch-up painting myself. Hire someone else to do the patching and painting if you have high standards!
