Although I received courteous and helpful service at all the speciality paint stores I visited today, Sheila at Mallory Paints in Lynnwood was extremely knowledgeable about the specific product I was looking for.  She took a great deal of time to answer all my questions, find solutions to unexpected problems, and explain the company's procedures to assure a high quality product and customer satisfaction.
I needed a particular color in metallic wall paint.  Currently, there are four brands available--one I had used in the past, but they had changed their formula and now have much less metallic qualities than previously;  one that I had had poor experiences with other products in their line in the past;  a third brand that other distributors had not been willing or able to mix to the color I needed;  and one carried only at Mallory Paint locations.  Sheila explained the differences between the final two brands and she could mix a custom color for me.  Unfortunately, she found that the original base we had decided on was no longer available, but she could proceed using the second option, their own brand.  She explained the extraordinary level of service they provide to get the right color (the customer should be present as they do the final adjustments;  if it is unsatisfactory and they are out of the base in the local store, they go to the warehouse that day to get more).
To be sure we have an accurate color sample, I had to get fresh examples.  Tomorrow I will be returning with these to order the actual paint.
