About us
Welcome to the Garden of Weedin’; Seattle’s premier organic garden maintenance company. Founded in 1995, we take great pride in making your garden as beautiful as it can be. We are 100% organic, so we do this without the use of chemicals. The Garden of Weedin' specializes in garden bed maintenance (sorry, no lawn work). We are 100% organic. While weeding, we really try to dig for the weed roots. In addition, we prune shrubs and small trees.

Garden of Weedin' is an outstanding company. Nancy responded to my request quickly and came out to give me an estimate a few days later. We scheduled a complete service for a few weeks after that. Leslee and Mark were assigned my job of weeding, general cleanup, and spreading mulch for both the front and back yards. They have done an excellent job. I can't say enough wonderful things about these two. I loved their work so much that I'm on a monthly schedule with this company now.
There attention to detail is superb and no task has been too small or too big. I have asked them to do random tasks like deadhead flowers or place border stones on a few of my backyard flower beds and they have done a fantastic job. They discuss issues with my plants and make recommendations to take care of the problem.
My neighbors are constantly stopping by and asking me how I maintain such a healthy beautiful yard weed free. I tell them to call Garden of Weedin'. My neighbors love all the flowers and so do all my birds, especially the Hummingbirds because everything this company does is organic. What really stands out about this company and its employees is that they care for my flower beds as much as I do when I took care of it myself, before my injury. I really appreciate all their effort on my behalf.
Thank you!!
"Thanks so much! It is a pleasure working in your beautiful garden, and enjoying all the wildlife it has brought in."
"It was a pleasure working with [member name removed]. I would just like to make a comment as to why our rates are a bit high. The Garden of Weedin' strives to pay a liveable wage to our employees. Our minimum wage is $12/hour and we give frequent raises as new skills are acquired. In addition, we offer a range of benefits to our employees. All this results in great employee retention, thus allowing us to offer a higher quality of service to our clients."
"Just one important note: [member name removed] has been a client for many years (15 years to be exact), and her rate is grandfathered in. My current rates are higher than what she pays."
do work before, and will again I can trust them completely to ask questions when unsure and to work hard while they are here.
They leave the garden neat and clean.
Rather than removing the rocks and hard soil in our parking strip, they took out only the weeds and then covered the area with awful-looking wood debris. We had specifically told her not to put anything down on the parking strip. The debris (which she first called "wood chips" then much later "arbor chips") was not contained so kept falling into the street, on to the sidewalk and our neighbors' parking strip. We spent many hours sweeping it back onto our property. Adding insult to injury, they covered our water meter access. Had we not removed the debris, this oversight on their part would have resulted in the City of Seattle charging us for having an obstructed meter. Thanks to a knowledgable friend, we dodged that one!
The other weeding that was completed (the very little they got to) was not done well. It was shoddy at best by anyone's standards. There were still quite a few weeds in those areas and most of our friends thought that we had not had any work done (except the unsightly parking strip). In the areas that we asked to have something non toxic put down (she recommended vinegar) to reduce regrowth of weeds over time, they simply weeded - of course the weeds grew back immediately.
The following day we informed the owner that we were unhappy and requested that she remove the unwanted materials. She refused and explained to us that she had "dismissed" what we asked her to do because she "thought we were kidding". We explained to her that we were not kidding and she still refused to remedy the situation. Her attitude toward us was unbelievable - we have never been so condescended to by a contractor. Though she had agreed to the project, she just kept saying, "that's not what we do". We had no way of knowing what her company does because when she bid the project she consistently agreed to what we were asking her to do. It was not until after the fact that she indicated she couldn't do what we asked - as if it were our fault for asking such a thing.
While we do not, under any circumstances, recommend hiring this company, if you do decide to go this route, GET IT IN WRITING!!! I cannot emphasize this enough! We ended up having to pay for the materials she dumped on our property because we had no written contract. Get everything in writing first, and make sure you are on site during the project. If they don't do the work you asked for, make them fix it then and there - don't wait overnight due to your bewilderedness that it has gone so wrong!
With regard to the company's responses: she did take us to small claims court where she lied. The judge's decision was based on there being no written contract - because of that we were required to pay for the materials she dumped on our property. That is all. She was not awarded the full amount of her claim.
"I just spent all day in court with the members yesterday. And the court agreed that they were fabricating their complaints. My company did everything they asked for, but they had forgotten to inform me that they had changed their minds as to what they wanted. Fortunately, the judge agreed. I would suggest that any contractor think twice before working for them."
