When we purchased our split-level home, it had one old, rather rickety bannister on each half-stairway up and down from the main floor. Being older, we wanted a bannister on each side, but had put off adding them for two years. However, with a disabled friend coming to visit, we suddenly needed to do it in a week, so we found Brian on Angie's List and gave him a call. He was in the middle of a large nearby job but made time to run over and give us an estimate. The next week, he got it done during periods when he had delays in the other job and finished right on time. Brian is very professional, unfailingly cheerful and pleasant, and a great worker. Rather than trying to suck every possible cent out of our job, he gave us the option of buying the materials and staining the wood ourselves. He referred us to a great vendor, where we were able to save money by buying some beautiful bannister wood that was already stained. Then, rather than having to stain the cut ends, he suggested making mitred joints to bring the wood into the wall at the ends, resulting in a beautiful, finished look. He had to repair a part of the wall where the previous bannister had been installed in a very amateurish way, and all this for only $300, and besides that, he was fun to have around. Our female Pomeranian fell in love with him and shadowed him wherever he went, and he tolerated that in good humor. We are going to have Brian come back to finish some other work in the stairways and then to remodel our laundry room. We recommend him highly.

Turned out great. We had carpeting put in, and then Brian came back to install the baseboards. Looks like a real room now, except it has a garage door, of course.

Brian started on time. He works alone. He was very detail-oriented and very easy to work with. Just a really nice guy. The project took a little longer than expected because we kept adding in new things we wanted to do like baseboards and cutting a heat vent in the ceiling. The end product is very nice and we could not be happier.
