I planned to remove existing window liners (trim) and install new to reduce cost. This was clearly communicated to Jim. After another week's wait with no final cost estimate I call their office only to be told Jim had not yet completed the estimate and was going on vacation. I expressed my dissatisfaction to the office manager and she contacted Jim so that she could complete the purchase order. Upon arriving at their office to sign the order, I found the order was not the design I had requested and the cost did not reflect the work I would be doing. Clearly Jim failed to provide this information to the office manager. My 'C' grade for quality simply reflects that they did not manufacture the actual window (which is fine) nor did they do any work other than remove the old window after I had removed all liners, and then set in the new unit.
I had used Associated's Snohomish office several years before and was very pleased with their professionalism. Sadly the manager of that office was let go. In my opinion, he should have been moved to the main office.
We are in the Antique business and I do repair on vintage motion lamps and other old pieces. They have always handled what I needed with care.
The installer arrived late and said he had been trying to call me but apparently the wrong phone number was written on his delivery sheet. But he showed up at the house but the reason he was trying to call was because the window accidently broke in his truck. This kind of stuff happens and he did right by showing up since he had the wrong phone number. I asked him to double check the window measurements since he was there. He hesitated a bit but agreed to do it. Good thing because they had the wrong dimensions on the ticket by over 10and quot;.
They said they would put a rush on the new window and it would only take a few days to get in. After I did not hear from them for 9 days I called again. I left a message and never heard back. Called again 4 days later. Finally, after 6 weeks, the new window went in on 7-30-13. What a pain.
My only complaint is that it seemed to take longer than i expected for the glass order to arrive and i had to call them about it. They Set an installation date at that time. They arrived on time and as i said did a beautiful job.
The installer came out as planned but said he was trying to call me but apparently had they had the wrong number on his work order. He was trying to call me because he accidently broke the new window while he was driving out to my home. This kind of stuff happens so I couldn't fault him for not protecting it better. But the driver did come out to the house to let me know he couldn't do the work which was nice. I said that since he was here he may as well double check the measurement of the window (I was loosing confidence in this company at this point). He kind of looked at me funny like re-measuring was a little over the top. But he agreed to do it anyway. Good thing because my 36 1/8and quot; window was actually a 47 1/8and quot; window. So they had the wrong measurements from the start.
They said they would put a rush on the replacement window and it would take just a few days to get in and they would call me. After I did not hear back from them in 9 days I called them again. The owner, Jim, said they would figure out a day and call me right back. I didn't hear back from Jim again and had to call them back (again) 4 days later. Pretty sad. Finally, after 6 weeks on 7-30-13 the window was installed.
For the slider projects both went great. On the first install, they came out when scheduled to measure the door, explain what would take place, and about when it would be done. When the door was ready, they scheduled the install and removal of the existing door. It turned out great. Was a perfect solution for us, no hole in the walls. They did the best to match the caulking to the house color. Good attention to detail.
When we got the bigger dog, I called Associate Glass about. They looked up our install from before so no need to remeasure. They ordered the replacement glass. When ready, came out and installed. Went just as smoothly as the first. I will always give Associated Glass first shot at any window projects because I know I will be happy with the results.
Gave us great advice and did an efficient installation eventhough some of our windows are very high up.
Their bid was competitive. These men have 20 and 18 years experience respectively and it shows. Nice guys too.
We would use Associated again. Like to use local craftsmen when possible.
The only hesitation I had was that the windows are only guaranteed for 10 years whereas other vendors have lifetime guarantees. We have never had any problems with any replacements that Associated did in the past.
They also installed our nice glass shower doors years ago.
