We have had Whatcom Landscapes complete projects for us two years in a row. This past summer we had four different projects for them and they were all completed in a timely fashion and with excellent workmanship. The two workers were prompt, professional, friendly and exceedingly competent. When we had questions regarding the projects they were extremely helpful and polite in their responses. The bids for all the projects were reasonable and the scheduling of the projects were timely. If we have additional projects in the future, we will not hesitate to contact Jon and his crew. I highly recommend them with no reservations.

We recently had Whatcom Landscapes completely renovate our back yard. The process was simple and straight forward. The work was absolutely top grade. Our foreman, Brent, was very professional and paid attention to every detail. Brent's colleague, Colton, was hard working and cheerful, also detail oriented. We would recommend them and their work to anyone who wants a very high quality result. Our yard is perfect.

I have a degree in Horticulture, and I love gardening, but there was no way I was psycally able to landscape a new property with the foundation trees and bushes, so I contacted Whatcom Landscapes, who have way more experience than I! I told them I'd like a park design with flowering trees and bushes. Color! I got it and boy will things be even more exciting in the spring! I plan on hiring them again in the future for another project, but right now they take good care mowing my lawn!

Wonderful, Whatcom Landscapes gave us a professional all inclusive quote, were there on time and worked through inclement weather to complete our project. Daniel and Ben worked consistently, cleaned up at days end and arrived promptly the next working day. All in All a Great Experience.

We moved into a 20-year old home in Whatcom County in May, 2019. The landscape was overgrown, some trees needed removal, the irrigation system needed maintenance, and the water features needed upkeep and upgrades. Knowing no one, we turned to social media sites for reviews, and solicited bids from three different companies. We chose Whatcom Landscapes, and are quite glad we did. To begin, they have excellent customer service. Whether meeting on site with David or Jon regarding work needing to be done, we always get a quick response via phone, and a site visit withing 48 hours. When the irrigation was leaking water and flooding our neighbor’s yard—basically, an emergency, they were there in an hour. Additionally, all the people who have worked at our home take the time to walk though the job with us, checking in at least a couple of times a day to make sure we are happy with what they’re doing. Moreover, they advise, explaining why something should be done one way rather than another. We learned much about proper pruning from Justin (a master pruner) and pond structure from Brent (who rebuilt everything). As a result, we would sometimes adjust our work order because we realized what we thought would be good wouldn’t be. Whatcom Landscape now maintains everything on our property except for the lawn, which they would do, except we decided to keep the former owner’s long-time lawn maintenance employee because we just like him. One day, though, we expect Whatcom Landscape to take over this aspect of maintenance, too. We believe their prices are fair—sort of in the middle of the bids we received. We believe one often gets what one pays for. We were wary when a company said they could remove four large trees (each 20-25 feet tall; up against the house), grind the stumps, clean up, and haul away the debris for a non-binding $1,200.00. That’s a lot of money, but from experience, we knew it was a low bid. (The high bid was around $2,400.00.) Whatcom’s binding bid was about $1,900.00. They did a great job, and the clean-up was spectacular. Do know this: They really clean up after themselves. My neighbors were most grateful for the clean-up on their side of the fence after a substantial hedge trimming. In short, then, this is a company we recommend without reservation.

Great! They arrived on time, in the pouring rain, got the one tree uprooted and transplanted and planted the four new ones. Came back the next morning to stake, fertilize and tidy up. They protected the grass with plywood strips and therefore minimized the damage and mud. We are very happy!

It went well. The work was done within two days. The barrier was constructed on a special concrete and it seems to be holding well. Additional gravel was added to the parking strip. The gravel path required a lot of work getting up weeds and it was done thoroughly before the gravel was added. I believe it will also hold up well.

We highly recommend Whatcom Landscapes! Our sloping lower back yard seemed unusable. Now it is easy to access with a set of steps and a path that meanders through planting beds. The upper back yard was an uninspiring space covered in bark. Now it has a deck and path leading to a flagstone patio and planting bed. The project also included fencing the back yard and replanting the front yard. Jon got us off to a great start by listening to our needs and developing a detailed proposal. Gavin, the project foreman, and his crew were outstanding. Gavin was on site for the entire project. His knowledge, experience, attention to detail, and communication skills ensured high quality results and happy clients. Don & Robbie, Bellingham

They are fantastic!  It was throughout the Winter and those poor guys definitely got stuck with some adverse conditions.  They were prompt, they were courteous, they were professional, and they did good work.  For price, they get an A.  They were on par with the other bids that we did actually manage to get back, and from some of our other neighbors we heard they were actually a little bit lower. They were definitely an A on that.  They were one of the few that actually got back to us, so they definitely get an A for responsiveness.  They were really good about punctuality as well.  A's all the way.

Beautifully. The people who came out were all incredibly focused and diligent, working the entire time they were at the house. They communicated well, asked if I was satisfied, and provided careful and specific-to-my-requests work. The owner came out to look over the work when it was finished and to ask if I was satisfied. Everyone was incredibly professional and I'm well satisfied with the work.

We met Jon from Whatcom Landscapes, Inc. in September 2014 when he came to our house in Bellingham, WA to give us a proposal and bid for landscaping services. Jon was very professional at our meeting, and he provided his ideas for improvement of our landscaping, including building a rock wall, removing a couple trees, creating a new planter bed and adding plants. He took photos and measurements of the area in order to provide his proposal. We received Whatcom Landscape's formal proposal which included a detailed and comprehensive plan. This was an outstanding approach compared to other bids which simply provided a short paragraph of general comments with a dollar figure. When I followed up with questions by email, Jon answered every question completely and explained his rationale for his decisions. I appreciated this very open and professional approach, and it became the primary reason for choosing his company. Since Whatcom's proposal was a bit higher than I anticipated, I asked Jon what we could do to bring it down a bit without compromising the overall plan. Jon's suggestions were reasonable, and he was able to meet my budget target. His company was very busy at the end of 2014, and he was not able to start our project until February 2015. We had some interruption due to rain, but the project progressed as expected and was completed exactly as promised. The tree removal and planter bed in the backyard were beautifully done, and the wall was perfect from end to end. We paid approximately 1/2 at the start of the project and the remaining portion shortly after completion. I was completely happy with every aspect of this job and appreciated the fact that all promises were kept and everything was done precisely as it was supposed to be. We highly recommend Whatcom Landscapes and would work with them again.

They were easy to deal, with although they said they mailed the contract but it never came so I had to contact them about that. The scope of the work was difficult because the landscape recovery was work done on steep sloped area that were covered with woody , out of control ground cover. It was a tough job but they did everything we asked. The rock wall they built looks great and the gentleman doing the rock work did a great job so the wall looks great. They cleaned up the area for the cobble, leveled the areas they could and terraced with a small rock wall to eliminate the steep unusable area to look better. They put down proper weed cloth under the cobble.

They were flexible enough to allow us to add some additional items to the scope of the work with no complaint and completed it promptly. I found Jon easy to work with and knowledgeable.

The original appraiser was prompt for his appointment.  He was able to see the proposed work area, make measurements, and send me the estimate.  I accepted.

The first worker arrived on the stated date and started work on his own on the pathway.  He seemed to know exactly what to do when I asked.  At the end of the day the job was half finished.  He came promptly the next morning, continued to work, finished and left.  All was done efficiently and it looked great.  The second worker was able to complete the parking strip independently as well.

I was very pleased with the efficiency and competence of the workers and with the end product.

This was a huge job!  My back yard was a disaster, with no privacy, dying shrubs, and a rock-garden type area that had a lot of potential, but was currently just ugly!   Jon came out, listened to what I wanted (very important!) and gave me a written estimate. He found the plants that I wanted, including 6' arborvitaes and roses called "Nearly Wild" that he had to look for online.   Most of the actual work was done by two of Jon's crew, Daniel and John, who were fantastic.  They were friendly and professional, and worked like the proverbial dogs in very hot weather.  The whole job took about 3 weeks. The stone path is gorgeous!  They dug way down and put in gravel and sand, leveled it, and laid the stones beautifully.  The rock wall around the tree was built up perfectly, with a second, mini-circle around the tree to protect the trunk, and now I have a raised bed to plant bulbs and annuals.  The arborvitae trees give me privacy. The slope to the street was so steep I would fall down trying to go out that gate, but now the steps are perfect. The irrigation system is on a timer that's easy to understand and modify, and waters all of the plants and shrubs, so I don't have to worry about watering during the summer. Very professional work all around.  I am very happy with the results, and would recommend Whatcom Landscapes without hesitation.
