First, I will say that I am very thankful to find someone to come out and do the work with only a few days notice. And it's my own fault for not clarifying their charges ($200 minimum for a call-out). If I had, I would have been more diligent in looking for additional work for the repairer to do; they existed but with the house sale we have a lot of bills coming in and I was trying to focus on the most important work that needed to be done. Overall, I am happy with the work that was performed but not as much with the professionalism of the installer and the final bill.
There were a few sections of the carpet that needed to be stretched and two areas that needed minor repairs. I feel that the work the installer did was done fine but I would have preferred the work be done better/a bit differently.
My issues with professionalism are this: the installer showed up about three hours earlier than scheduled. Unfortunately what his meant was that I was very distracted with the other work that was being done (carpet cleaning) and some drywall work in another part of the house. It added more stress onto an already stressful experience. Plus, I couldn't easily talk to him/oversee the upstairs work was done the way I really wanted it done.
On top of that, when the man let himself in, he walked right over freshly cleaned carpets and stairs in his work boots to find me! And then he balked when I asked him to put shoe covers on. During the coarse of his work he didn't want to have to keep putting them on when he needed to go out to his truck and back to get tools. Working in the carpet business, I was baffled this was even an issue. It certainly left a poor impression and while it doesn't preclude me from using them again, I'll admit gives me pause when recommending this company to others.
Due to a toilet leak, our bathroom flooring needed replacing. We opted to get two quotes by flooring providers in our town (we prefer to keep our business local when financially feasible). Ralph's quote came in at half the cost of the other business.
Ralph's was wonderful to work from the moment we walked in their door. Treauna was very informative and helpful when we had a question but gave us plenty of space to browse. They let me bring home multiple samples for a good period of time. When we requested a quote, Treauna come to our home and was prompt, professional and friendly. She also gave us a great suggestion to redo our powder room at the same time as we would have left over material that would be a shame to be wasted. The quote was done on time, and the appointment to get the work done was also done in a timely manner.
When the day of installation came, the contractor taking care of the toilet removal was prompt and professional. The flooring installer (sorry, can't recall his name) arrived right on time and got right to work. He was professional, efficient and friendly. His attention to detail shows in the quality of our install. When I noticed a small flaw in the material, he made sure to measure in such a way it would be cut out. He also took the time to ensure the flaw was not repeating. Everything was done by the end of the day, including their coordinating of the plumbing contractor coming back and installing two new toilets.
We couldn't be happier with both the product we purchased and work that was done. We have four bedrooms, another bathroom and a hallway/stairs that will require flooring in the near future. We will not hesitate to use Ralph's again and I highly doubt we will even bother with getting a second quote from any other flooring provider - whether it be local or a big box store.
