We wanted the trees to be logged and hauled away and had been told that it would be a two day project. Micah and his crew showed up as scheduled and did a fantastic job. Although I was skeptical that they could trim the branches and drop the tree sections with little damage they proved that they were very experienced at doing exactly that. Even from 80 to 100 feet up the tree they dropped branches almost at ease.

They did an excellent job in an efficient manner, coordinating with the crane operator and then with a trucker to remove some lengths to the mill for lumber and others for pulp.  Job was scheduled at my convenience, cleanup was complete, and care was taken to disconnect and then reconnect the cable wire to the house and not disconnect electricity.  I recommend this company for any tree work.  

Micah was very responsive and punctual in providing an estimate and then revising it when I adjusted the scope of the work. The job was delayed by my need to get an Arborist opinion, which was needed as part of the City of Lakewood-required tree removal permit. Date set for the two day job was also revised by Micah without a problem at my request so I could be present when the work was performed. Crew arrived when scheduled and performed in a very professional, well coordinated and thorough manner. Crane and then the log truck (both subcontracted) arrived as arranged by Micah. Stumps grinding immediately followed. Overall Ranger Tree did an excellent job with care and total safety (as much as this inherently difficult work can be). Completed work by rehanging cable line to house.

This crew worked quickly and did a really great job.  I've had the trees trimmed in the past and it has always been a two day job with only two or three people working.  A huge crew showed up with all the equipment they needed.  They went right to work and were done in less than three hours. The trees were carefully trimmed.  They don't look like they were just cut back..  The clean-up was outstanding.

I got 3 quotes from 3 different local Tree Removal companies, Williams, Canzler, and Ranger. Ranger offered the lowest bid, and we couldn't have been more pleased with their service, and price! They are a down to earth crew. They came in with the right equipment to get the job done! They were efficient, precise, and Micah - the owner of Ranger Tree Service knows his stuff! It was fun to watch them take down the trees. There was a terrible wind storm the night after they began their work, so the 50ft. Fir tree sat like a totem pole - branchless -  for a couple days before they could come back, and finish the job. They were in high demand after the storm. It was all good. We were the talk to the neighborhood that week, with our 50ft. tree trunk piercing the sky. All together the job took a couple days. I highly recommend Ranger Tree Service.

I liked the people very well. I liked the young man that is part of that company that did actual culling up these big firs and cutting them. So they did very well on that. The only thing - but I think this happens mostly with anybody that cuts this big a tree, is it kind of gouged the backyard. But, he put them down by rope and tried to be as careful as he could. So that maybe something that happens. I don't know. The other was outside the backyard. They probably did the same thing there. But when they start bringing them down by rope, by the time they get to the bottom, they've kind of got to let them loose. The huge big one was $1000 to cut down. We did get another estimate which was just about the same. So I have a feeling that all of them try to be fairly close and high. They had to have someone else come and cut them up. We had quite a bit of saw dust that they put in the flower beds. The man who came to clean up the yard had to pick it all up. I don't know if that's the normal thing too. The man did come in two days and he cut up most of it and then they came, probably the third or fourth day and did the ones outside the backyard, which wasn't fenced. My backyard is fenced. They came on the day they said they would and did all of them that day. They were on time.

I had previously gotten an estimate from this company and was able to talk to the owner Micah.  Tree and lawn companies don't seem to last very long, making me wonder how they manage their income.  I did not ask this question directly, however, what I found out was that this company was formed more than ten years ago and has transitioned into specializing in tree service. Micah is serious about customer service and upholding his reputation.  He does this by taking the time to talk to you about what services you need done and what options are available.  His working knowledge of the industry is impressive!

   Managing income.  Some of the companies that trim trees do not invest in their equipment and usually "get by" with the minimum needed to perform the task.  Ranger Tree Experts invests money into their equipment so they can do the job correctly and safely, not merely meeting the minimum needed.  For example, the shredders that they use are of high capacity and high quality.  A professional shredder like they use is very heavy and quieter than a light duty one that squeals when a load is put upon it.  Heavy equipment requires a heavy truck to tow it safely.  This means trucks of commercial capacity and air brakes.  This also requires a driver to have a commercial license.  It is these little things that demonstrated to me that the owner, Micah, was serious about his company.  This company will be around while others will come and go.  Micah also trains his crew and expects perfection from them to uphold the companies reputation. 

  The work itself was interesting to watch.  The crew went over exactly what I wanted done, not missing any details.  As one man climbed the first tree, the other two were prepping chain saws, gas cans, leaf blower, etc..   The skill and saw control was amazing!  This is not something that you learn in one year.  The climber would set a rope to the branch he was going to cut, make his cut and drop the branch, controlling it with the rope from one end.  Never were any of the cut branches out of control or land outside of their established drop zone.  The branches that had been cut were now planed even with the tree surface, not leaving any limbs or knocks sticking out.  It made the whole job look very clean and professional.  These results were not obtained by on the job training.  The two crew on the ground had the task of feeding the branches and limbs into the shredder.  They were very efficient and safe, keeping up with the climber.  The job of feeding the shredder is hazardous as the limbs would bounce and slap around several directions before being ground up.  Each man was careful and stepped to the side of the feed tray as they loaded it.  A smaller shredder would have meant that these guys would be here all day just trying get the cut branches shredded.   I had to leave prior to the crew finishing.   When I returned home, I was very happy!  The end result was perfect!  The crew even cleaned up after themselves, leaving my driveway and lawn looking great.  It may sound silly, but none of our garden elves or other statues were damaged during the job.

During the windstorm of 1/19/14, a huge maple tree was blown down across the private access road to our home and blocked us in.  Since this was the day of the Seahawks playoff game, we had little hope that anyone would be willing to come and open the roadway for us.  Our second call was to Ranger Tree, listed in Angie's List.  Micah G. came out within 30 minutes to survey the scene, and he returned a few hours later, cutting open a pathway.  The following day, he came with his crew to start the full removal process.  We were so pleased that we had them do additional work for us -- done right, done neatly, and on time.

Ranger Tree Service was here exactly when they said they would be.  In spite of the weather (drizzling rain, but that's Washington), they went right to work.  We advised them we had someone who would take the wood, so they stacked it up close to the driveway, for easier access.  Other then a couple of logs brushing past my camellia bush, and breaking a few branches, everything else survived just fine, given as the area was also close to a short brick fence and a yard light.  We definitely will use this company again, as we have many trees in our yard.

I have dealt with a number of tree services. He is very good and very skilled. His prices are reasonable. They are professional. 

There was an accident when they were removing the trees with a man falling out of a tree. I had to work with his partner to finish up the job which didn't go over too well. They told me there would be less damage to my lawn than there was. I hired them because they said they did some work in the country club golf course in my area but their equipment did more damage than I expected.

Ranger Tree Service prides itself on a job well done. They pride themselves on doing good work. Micah runs the company and we had no complaints about his work.
