Lakewood Counter Tops

We had major damage from a leaking shower pan and did not want to reinstall the same technology so we contacted Lakewood Countertops about a custom made 4' x 6' Corian shower pan instead of a concrete and tile pan. They sent out a man to measure who arrived quickly and did a good job. The estimate was about $2600 plus tax, about 1/3d less than another company for the same product. They told us it would take about 10 business days but near the end of that time, they called and said they could not find material in the common color we wanted. We chose another similar color that they could get and were told it would take an additional 10 days. The installer was supposed to come on Friday and my general contractor was on site to remove a temporary wall to facilitate the installation. Lakewood called and said their installer had called in sick and could not come that day so my contractor had to reinstall the wall. This cost me about $300 for unnecessary work. When the installers arrived on Monday, they did a great job of installation. A pan that big comes in 2 pieces and has to be glued together with special glue and held under pressure for about an hour. Afterwards, the floor of the pan was sanded and finished so you cannot see the seam. The pan fit perfectly. I am completely pleased with the work and result but not so happy with the overpromise on scheduling.

They were to install the counter tops not later than 17 Feb by contract. I was called and they stated that they couldn't do the install until the 21st at 1000am( breaching their own contract obligation). At 1100 am when they hadn't showed I called the manager and he assured me they were on the way. They finally showed at 1130 am without any phone calls to me stating that they would be late. As they started I was told that the back splash was cut incorrectly and they didn't have it with them so the job would not be finished on this day. I immediately called the manager and he said he would bring out the back splash and the job would be completed in one day. Now the reason I hired this company was because of their precision measurement with a laser. Doesn't matter when human error is involved which they didn't want to admit. They had to cut furring strips to elevate all of the counter tops height to make up for the miss cut back splash and that took a long time. Then they had a lot of cutting and grinding to do in my driveway which was another area of what I was told they didn't do like their competitors. The job was finally completed at 930 pm. My family and I were held hostage for over 10 hours due to an unprepared company that refused to acknowledge their own mistakes at my families expense. While looking at the job we discovered that the bar top on one side didn't have the 1/4 inch overhang that the rest of the bar top had. It was zero to a 1/4 inch in a 4 foot span and looked funky. I asked why would they install that way and was told it was because the wall was off/crooked. Well first off that should have been identified with the laser measuring and if not at least during the install and dry fit it would have been discovered and I would be notified? Didn't happen. They were in a hurry as it was getting very late and simply glued it and attached it without letting me make a decision on how it could be made to look better. Unfortunately customer service is not a priority with this company. The manager came out to look after I called and complained about the quality and he said that this kind of thing happens all the time. I wasn't buying it but since everything was all installed and glued I could see that it would be very difficult to fix and the manager was like I'll do whatever it takes to fix. Well that wasn't true because he was not willing to redo at his expense and continued trying to make it look like it wasn't their fault. It absolutely was their fault and I said that they would have to come off the agreed price because the job was done wrong. No way said the manager. So instead of going through anymore hassle with this company and knowing that they will make what is done worse trying to remove the back splash to trim it slightly I opted for another learning experience with a company that has no regard for their customers, just the bottom line! DO NOT EVER USE LAKEWOOD COUNTER TOPS UNLESS YOU WANT TO RISK WHAT I ENDURED.

When they put it in it in it was supposed to melt together, but it looked all cracked. It was such a poor job. They put in the windows wrong and the caulking. I went as far as the attorney general because the job was just not done well.

They did a premeasure then came back with the counter top and installed it perfectly. Whole process took about two months.

They were very good. We contacted them and they came out and did an estimate. They met the lower estimate that we got. They were here on time and when they said they would be. It was all done in a timely manner. They were very courteous and they cleaned up after themselves. It was a very good experience.

Overall, the company met or exceeded our expectations. Our counter tops were not standard and required some wrap around areas, 12" overhang for bar area, and 6" and 12" rounded ends. The price was not the lowest but, their knowledge, years of experience, and dedication to customer service out weighed, by far, the cost. Everyone we met (sales, template, and installation crews) are very professional, courteous, and listen to our needs and desires. The team made constructive recommendations on the material, layout, and overall design. Appointments were kept with very few reschedules. We were told that counter tops would take 10-15 working days to manufacture but had them installed within 7 working days from time of template. The installers ran into some manufacturing issues but quickly and professionally found a way to resolve the problems. Counter tops are installed and look beautiful.
