Back To Perfection

Scheduling was a bit cumbersome, getting to the person who would actually do the work locally, but once that was taken care of--all else went well. Our Corian counter tops, including cabinet tops, island, and kitchen table were showing some wear with scratches and nicks after ten years of use. The technician came in and went right to work--four (noisy) hours later, the Corian was like new. On my initial phone call to book the service, they asked for an estimate of the dimensions/square feet to be refinished. I gave them a very rough--real-time estimate as we talked on the phone. They assured me that the technician would measure the surfaces, and provide an exact estimate. Well, he didn't. He took the rough measurements as the final measurements, and that is what I paid. It was close enough (plus or minus) that in my case it would not have made much difference, but I would strongly recommend providing exact measurements for the phone estimate, as that is likely to be what is used.

Dale and I had a couple preliminary phone calls and emails.  I was able to send him some pictures of the damage.
He showed up on time, and spent over 5 hours working on the crack, and repairing the cutout for the cook top.  In the past, I had a couple of small cracks repaired, which had returned.  Dale explained that the original installation (in 1992) was not very well done.  He enlarged the cutout, and routed and polished the edges to shed heat more effectively.  He also repaired the small areas that had re-cracked.  There were some Corian surfaces that needed to be reattached to the counters, and he fixed those.
He worked professionally and clean.  There is a ton of precision cutting and sanding that goes on with this work.  I would never have the patience to do this.  At the end, the counter tops looked great, and even the part not visible under the cook top , was improved to keep the heat of it and oven from wreaking havoc on the Corian. 
Expect some noise from the tools, and the fumes from the adhesives and solvents. 
His charges were exactly as quoted, and the finished work was beautiful.
