About 2 years ago I bought my new home which was a 1930 brick facade tudor.  It had no major work (and what work had been done had been done poorly).  I started working on the house on my own and contracting out pieces that I couldn't do piece by piece.  When it went to adding a steel beam to replace a bearing wall to open up the kitchen and living room I met Richard at a local home show.  He did a great job with the beams including taking care of the blueprints and structural work.  Because he did a good job I continued hiring him and eventually made him the general contractor.  He hasn't disappointed and I've been able to move into the new house. 
The downside- electrical hasn't been fully finished since the exterior line can't be done in the rain and scheduling the electrician has been difficult.  I do have power but can't get the final permits or the AC done until the new line has been run to the house.  In addition to the minor scheduling issue there were minor budget overruns but they tended to be minor.  Richard was quick to remedy any issues that came up and did a great job handling everything.
I've lived in the house for about a month now and everything has turned out great.

The steel beams are in and loot great and the stairs passed inspection.  Everything has gone quickly and relatively cheaply.  I've also had other odds and ends work done that was also done well. I'm looking forward to the insulation and drywall going up as soon as the electrician is done.

We needed someone to remove two bedroom windows that were large and faced the front door of our neighbor. Originally, we wanted to have one of the windows moved to replace another bedroom window on a different side.

Richard was great. He took the time to find out our needs and worked with us to get the project into our budget. While they sometimes were a bit later than originally agreed-upon, it was never more than 30-60 minutes, and Richard always called to let us know what was up. The work was done well, and Richard followed up with some information on what caulking to use with our siding, etc.

While they did the removal, they noticed that the window we wanted to re-use had been installed incorrectly for our needs. Richard took the time to explain the issue and offered to either order a new window and continue the replacement or have the labor costs for the replacement be taken off our bid. Since the replacement wasn't necessary (we just wanted to get use out of a newer window), we went with the second choice.

Throughout the whole experience he was professional, friendly, and responsive to our needs, including making sure he worked around a toddler's naptimes, a child's school times, and a bouncy dog.

Took several weeks longer then expected for permitting due to necessary revisions from permitting department and permitting department slowdown.

Knowledgeable, efficient, respectful - The Gencon team did an amazing job with helping us through our renovation nightmare. Richard(Owner) brings in the experts to help ensure he understands the job requirements so you get what you ask for. He keeps you on track and gives you the facts. They were on time and very nice to deal with. They made me feel comfortable every step of the way. Richard and Steve were great at explaining what they were doing and why they were doing it. Whenever I had a question, it was answered in a timely manner. The workers they had working for them were always polite and worked quickly and cleanly.
