Mary did an outstanding job. She discussed what I would like over the phone. She came out to the house and went through it room by room and then gave me a list of recommendations for each room down to pictures and furniture and rugs. She offered to find the items she recommended or said I could shop and verify with pictures any items I was purchasing. She went with me to the plant store and helped me select flowers, trees and pots for the home. She put them together and staged them in my home. Of all the decorators I have worked with, she was the easiest, most efficient and listened to what I preferred. Definitely A+ !!

One Day Design is incredible - and I don't say that very often. Mary has a very good eye for design; is very knowledgable and gives good advice; she listens so everything is tailored to your vision; and she works with your budget and has great suggestions about how to make the most of the money you spend. With Mary's help, i did not make dumb, impulsive choices - everything we did complemented the whole. She is truly awesome. My house looks really, really good. It's comfortable, contemporary, calming, with pops of color. I love it and get compliments all of the time. It looks really good, feels good, and we didn't break the bank doing it. Mary helped me figure out what was most important to change. For example, my kitchen is somewhat dated. Rather than rushing out to renovate the kitchen, she helped me realize that for the most part, I like my kitchen. We switched out the doors, put contemporary door handles, repainted, and added a new rug. The kitchen looks good. With the changes you don't notice some of the flaws. This was very smart because we had enough money to put new flooring in the entire downstairs. It really opens up the house - this was an investment that really paid off. We spent money on new lighting to accentuate our high ceilings. Everything we did made sense! And made a big impact. This goes for big issues like the flooring to small things like pillows. I can not emphasize enough that Mary is the most valuable resource when you are redecorating. Thank you, Mary!!! We will start to redo two bathrooms soon. I have been looking & thinking about this. I can't wait to go over ideas with Mary first. I know with her guidance, the bathrooms will look great - and will look more custom that they really will be.

I had a couple of lengthy phone conversations with Mary before she even came to our home. She really tried to get a good idea of our needs before we met. Mary brought her piano template, which was very helpful in trying out different possibilities for piano placement. We have a built in bookshelf that we planned to have reconstructed to fit our TV. Mary had a great suggestion for reconfiguring the shelves to make them look less "busy."
Mary was able to look beyond the boxes from our move and see the bigger picture. She was very helpful in making suggestions about simple things that would improve the look of our bathroom, including purchasing a larger mirror. She made size suggestions for new baseboards, which was very helpful.
It took some time to implement the suggestions which Mary made, but we have been very happy with the direction she gave us.
The couple of hours for consultation was well worth it.

I had never worked with a decorator before, but found a coupon for a 2 hr. consultation with Mary Brown on Angie's List and decided it was time to go for it, after having made virtually no changes to my home in over 20 years. Mary was a pleasure to work with, and made me feel comfortable right away. She asked me questions to see what my tastes and preferences were, and then was able to lay out a great overall plan for me to get started with. With very specific information about do's and don'ts I was able to do a lot of the legwork myself, but she was happy to take on the tasks I didn't feel confident about, such as choosing light fixtures. As I hired contractors to put in new flooring, countertops, etc. I was able to check in with her every step along the way, to make sure I didn't make any costly errors. My home looks amazing now, and I plan to keep working with her to put on a few more finishing touches. Mary is extremely professional, knowledgeable, and detail-oriented, as well as being very easy to work with. I would definitely recommend her to anyone who wants to make either large or small changes to their home. You won't be disappointed,

Our young relative's condominium is only partially furnished and decorated.
Mary talked with our relative about paint and made suggestions for the preferred warmer colors. Mary suggested several furniture items to complete the space, making specific suggestions as to sizes and shapes. They also discussed possible shopping resources.

We rearranged furniture, which turned out to be a big improvement in appearance and traffic flow. We discussed techniques to encourage guests to gather in the living room.
Mary pointed out that In one part of the house, the lighting was giving off an unattractive greenish glow, so we replaced the light bulbs in that area.
Mary suggested many ideas which we will incorporate into refreshing and renewing our home - some we have done already, some we'll add as we go along. It has been extremely useful to have Mary's viewpoint and suggestions. She has an artist's eye. The cost is very reasonable. The cost is an excellent investment when you think about what you would pay for a single chair or lamp that doesn't work and you end up giving away.

Mary was immediately available to meet with me, although, I'm certain that is not always the case. She asked questions and helped me narrow down my particular design preferences. Her communication was clear and concise. She listened to me, made suggestions that helped me confirm my thoughts but also gave me ideas which were new and inspiring. She took measurements and made notes as we proceeded from room to room. In the end she not only gave me her detailed notes but also constructed a priority list which will help me focus on the individual rather than be overwhelmed with the whole. She also encouraged me to call her with any questions or help in finding furnishings or accessories. The consultation with Mary gave me the direction I needed to get started on this exciting project.

Mary was professional, prompt, friendly, and fun in the two hour visit with us today. She is very creative and full of ideas. Mary is very knowledgeable about architectural styles and current trends. She had wonderful suggestions for furniture placement, selection and placement of wall art, lamps, plants, pillows, books, and other accessories. Mary came out for two separate one hour visits to talk with us about our upcoming remodel. This is our first time using an interior designer, and it was a great experience. Mary arrived on time and went right to work giving my wife and I ideas and suggestions on decorating. She offered some very good suggestions and had some very good ideas on fixing our small space areas up by utilizing the least amount of furniture to fit in the place that could be dual-functioned.
She gave good advice and really seemed to know her stuff. I would love to use her to fix our place up if we had the budget. However, for what we had to pay her, it was well worth it.

I purchased a home earlier this year in which every room required remodeling/updating. What does a design challenged guy do? Well, if he's smart, he hires Mary to provide the direction and support he needs to change his house into a home. I communicated to Mary what I was seeking and the activities that would take place in each room. When I wasn't clear enough for her, she had me select photos that better communicated what I was seeking. Mary listened to my design ideas and provided constructive input as to the myriad of choices necessary in a remodel. Mary always gave me a variety of choices for each decision. As an example, Mary reviewed over a hundred hardwood floor samples in four stores and narrowed the choice down to four. And when you're tired of the remodeling grind, Mary provides the gentle prodding to keep a procrastinator like me on track to get the project done.
Mary is easy to communicate with and she responds quickly to emails. She also saves you a lot of time shopping, as she knows the stores and the products, price and quality they offer. She also passes thru her designer discount to you when available which can result in considerable savings. It has gone extremely well. She will either shop for you or you can do your own shopping. We provided her with a retainer so that we could e-mail or call. I am constantly e-mailing with pictures and questions. She is always quick, responsive and extremely helpful. I absolutely love working with her. We are just starting to get in some things that we ordered and it is exactly the look we want. It took us a long time to figure out colors, fabrics and styles. I never anticipated how much work it is to put everything together. Mary has literally held our hands throughout the whole decision making process. When we run out of money for the retainer we send in another one so we can keep on going. When we get in all the furniture we will have her come back out and go over what needs to be done next.

Finally! I've had mixed experience with interior designers but Mary is a real pro. She was able to work successfully within my tight budget and helped find a major piece of furniture on craigslist. When I didn't have a truck to pick it up she found another person on craigslist to do that. She picked GREAT stuff for me at a low price like artificial plants which can be cheesy if the buyer doesn't have the right eye. In addition, she thoughtfully arranged all my existing furniture in new ways to make the room look great. She also brought a kit for precisely hanging all my art and even spackled the old holes. Overall a great experience - professional, high quality design, wonderful to work with.

I am extremely satisfied with everything Mary suggested. She is very easy to work with and suggests very reasonably priced alternatives. For instance, she suggested shopping at Home Depot for carpet since I didn't need much in each room rather than a more expensive carpet place. I only wish that I had called her earlier in the process. I will definitely use her again.
