We had a wonderful experience having our new units installed by Sunset Air. Our initial contact Jessie was great to work with. The installation team of Ian, Jason, and Michael, and the Electricians Tristan and Justin were all very professional and did a great job. Jessie made several trips to our home, confirming our system as the team at Sunset Air put together a plan and identified what system would best suit our needs. The team was able to troubleshoot our old 1970 furnace and heat pump system. The system was a unique installation in an outside furnace room with a lot of the plumbing running under the home. Removal was quick. The new installation required some custom-designed Ductwork and some changes to the electrical system to ensure proper installation. The installation team was always on time, and when they left, you would never have known they were there; they took everything with them daily. Once the system was complete, we received a comprehensive run-through of the entire system and tips for maintaining the overall system. We were kept informed all the way through the process. Ian and Michael went the extra mile at the end and noticed the UV Units were not working correctly because our custom system wasn’t providing enough pressure to turn the units on. They spent the time troubleshooting and custom fabricating a workaround on the fly, adjusting to ensure the system was working. We had our County Inspection the next day, and the County inspector was impressed and had great things to say about the installation. We hesitated for years to replace the furnaces because with an old farmhouse, everything turns into a “CUSTOM” Job and typically is full of heartache and pain with cost overruns and the “What We thought was.” Not with these guys. They came in, did a fantastic job, and finished not just on time, which has never happened at our home. They Finished Early !! Thank you to the whole team at Sunset Air. Especially our team Ian, Jason, and Michael, and the Electricians Tristan and Justin. We highly recommend Sunset Air.

I think Sunset Air may be having financial problems. Not sure what else would explain our experience. Our heat pump went out in Nov and we got several quotes to replace it (everyone initially refused to repair it - more on this in another review). They were the best quote and required a 50% down payment to order our equipment ($6000). Because of supply chain issues they could not do the job until June - I objected and reminded them that we were running on emergency propane heat so they agreed to accelerate our job to March. Well March came around and they had no equipment and could not provide a new date. At this point I insisted that they repair the unit instead. They did - and our repair experience with them was also frustrating. It's now mid-April and they still have not refunded the difference between the repair and the new system down payment. (the owe me over $2000) I would avoid giving these folks any money until the work is done.

Very professional from beginning to end. Sales associate came on-site and did a complete walk-through and provided a professional quote and set accurate expectations on the process. The installation team was 1st class. They arrived on time, reviewed the work to be done and got right to work on the installation. Each one of the installation team members was a craftsman in their trade. The installation went smoothly, no surprises and the professionalism of their work is evident throughout. Excellent team of professionals and craftsmen. Thank you for a great job.

the guy came out and diagnosed, what he thought, was the problem. within a day or two someone from Sunset Air called and gave an estimate of close to 800.00 to fix. they ordered the parts and called to schedule the service. the day of service i took off from work, they never showed. when i called them at 4 - 4:30 in the afternoon, the person on the phone said they had me scheduled for a different day. she offered to have the service on a Saturday and she would be willing to knock 15% off of my bill. in the mean time, i was talking to a co-worker who knows of a heating guy in Shelton. so i called him. he came out that day and said sunset air is planning on replacing things that didn't need to be replaced. i got a different diagnosis and price from Arch Mechanical in Shelton, who was correct on what needed to happen for 2/3 less the price. I was charge 169.00 by Sunset Air for them to come out and diagnose the problem. Money down the drain. when dealing with them for anyone who is considering, i would get a second opinion first.

They put in all my heating and cooling. I'd say their price is a little high. When they make the appointment, they're there.

Good service.  Some glitches, which company dealt with until both they and we were satisfied.

We had someone else out to give a bid first. It was very high so we got a second opinion from Sunset Air. Sunset Air realized that our heater was under warranty because of a recall and replaced it for only the cost of labor. Saved us a lot of money and we have a new heater that will last. Glad we got a second bid.

They sent maybe three or four people for the job and it took less then one day. They left the area very clean, they are always very professional and know what they are doing. The only downside is that they are expensive, they arent very expensive they are average which to me is very expensive.

The technician arrived promptly, performed the repair quickly, and gave us a clear explanation of the problem as well as advice for maintenance and expected remaining life of the furnace.

Still not done. The unit broke on Sunday. I called the emergency after-hours line within an hour of the unit breaking. The technician that called me back indicated it would be $310 to come out Sunday or I could wait until Monday and have someone come out for $155. I agreed to Monday, and as I described the issue, the technician estimated it was related to the fan motor, which is a part they don't always carry on their trucks, so they would note that so that it improved the chances of them having the part when they came out. Monday - nobody called, and I followed up around noon to learn that they didn't have my information. At that time, they told me that they were booked until Wednesday, and to have someone come out after hours would cost around $250. I agreed to the $250, and asked them to make a note about needing the blower motor, they said they couldn't do that because the trucks were already out. They said someone would call us when they're on their way after 4 p.m. Monday evening - still no phone call by about 5:30, so we call again. They indicate that we have about 6 people ahead of us. We remind them (for the third time) that we have an infant, and her room is getting over 80 degrees and there's also a looming heat wave later this week. To their credit, they go out of their way to contact a technician, who moves us up the list, and gets out there at about 7:30. The technician was incredibly friendly and helpful, but confirms that it's likely the blower motor (which he does not have), and replaces the capacitor to get it running again until the motor can be replaced. He only charges $155 for all the trouble. All seems well...until one hour later when the new capacitor stops working, the buzzing sound returns, the fan isn't blowing, and we're now out $155 (plus tax) with no working A/C and still needing to coordinate with the office. I understand these things happen, but the reason I'm giving poor marks are these missed opportunities: * After the first contact, the guy should have been able to get us on the regular schedule. Ideally on Monday, but if they couldn't do that, communicate that. * It seems that with a heat wave looming and temperatures forecast to reach the 90's in two more days, that they would prioritize A/C repairs for elderly and infants ahead of other jobs. * With the likely problem identified on Sunday, they should have been able to coordinate to at least get the correct part on a truck so that there was a reasonable shot at repairing the unit with the first visit. * Given that the first visit accomplished nothing, they should refund the charge for that visit or at least give me that credit toward the repair that is still needed. I am going to mark "will hire again" only because of the professionalism of Paul and Spencer. I've had good experiences with this company in the past, but they are completely bungling the dispatch aspect of this business right now, and if I have another experience like this in the future, I will be finding someone else to service my heating/cooling unit.

Sunset Air Inc. (SAI) contracted with a drilling company to drill three 200? vertical holes in our back yard for a geothermal heating
system. Even though SAI claimed they had experience with geothermal heating systems and would oversee the project, it became apparent that they had no experience with ?vertical? geothermal heating systems and would not be overseeing the project. When drilling the first 200? well, the drilling company struck an artesian. SAI's project supervisor, Randy Norris, was not on site to oversee the well drilling. He was on vacation.
The gushing artesian water spewed for almost 3 days against our 7? high cement retaining wall and cement stairs that lead to Gig Harbor Bay. Due to SAI's failure to request that the drilling company immediately divert the artesian water away from our retaining walls and cement stairs, we encountered erosion damage. The top and middle sections of the cement stairs settled downward into a "bow" shape making the steps irregular and unsafe. Sunset Air never followed up or took responsibility to have the cement stairs repaired. Estimated damage is $25K.
During the installation of the radiant heating system, SAI failed to install the pex tubing according to the manufacturer's
specifications, therefore, voiding the 25-year manufacturer?s warranty. SAI used Mr. Pex for the pex tubing and used Uponor Company for the fittings and manifolds, therefore, voiding both companies' warranties for using different manufacturers' products together. Uponor Company suggests that we inspect the pex tubing heating system annually to make sure there is no electrolysis or corrosion. Estimated annual cost for an inspection is $350. Any maintenance or repairs would be an additional expense since there are no warranties.
In a similar situation, SAI chose to repair rather than replace an accidentally cut section of the pex tubing in the shower floor
without first requesting written permission from the manufacturing company of the pex tubing. The manufacturing company requires ?prior? notification and approval before any repairs are made to make sure the correct materials are used and the repair company is certified to do the repair. Not only did we lose the manufacturer's warranty for the entire radiant heating system, SAI refused to warranty their own repair work. Our homeowner's insurance policy does not cover any damage caused by "construction defects."
