Initial visit and approximate amount for step one Apr. 31st. He decided it would be good to break down the job into the 3 steps over the spring and summer.Step one is what he did on May 8th and June 12th, He was scheduled to return on the 8th of June but was a no show and no call. When called on Tues. said he had been ill and then came on that Friday. When leaving he said he would call and be back the first part of July. I called and left a message the third week of July and when he didn't return the call fallowed up with an email on Aug 1st. I have not heard from him or ever received a bill which I had asked him to bring on his return in July. The willow is growing and the yard is suffering.
When Tim first came by he seemed very polite and professional. My husband and I spoke with him about our family, showed him our property, explained what we'd like done, and went over pricing. We explained to him how important reliability was since we had previous problems with our landscaper no-showing and not calling. He said it would not be an issue and that he had other clients in the area also. We hired him on the spot and set up service. Pricing was very reasonable. Tim said he would text me with the date the crew was set to come by.
Tim sent me a message a few days later and said the crew would be by on Tuesday. Tuesday came and went and they did not show and I got no call. I sent Tim a message Wednesday morning saying they had not shown up and asking what happened. He responded that they had some 'equipment failure' the previous day and would be by that morning. When they came by on Wednesday morning they mowed the lawn and did the weeds, leaving huge holes and gauged out footprints on the slight hill covered in bark on the side of my house. They did not do a clean up or trim as we had discussed. I thought maybe just an oversight and let the hill mess go. I messaged Tim to say thanks they had come by this morning and asking when they would be available to do the cleanup. He responded that they would do it next week during regular service. Sounds great.
Next week rolled around - they came by and mowed. No clean up/trimming. Again I contacted the owner and said "Tim, they did not do the trimming and clean up when they were here". Here is the response I got from the OWNER of the company who had told me they would be reliable and who completely dropped the ball at every turn:
"I apologize for the inconvenience but we are no longer going to be able to provide service for you. No payment is required for the service already completed. Thanks."
WHAT?! I guess coming to the house when you are scheduled and doing the work that you are supposed to in a professional and reliable manner is too much to ask for this company. No explanation, just terrible service. I was getting ready to fire them anyways and of course appreciate that he is not going to try to charge me for the 2 mowings, but what a terrible experience. I would never recommend this company nor would I ever use them again. My expectations were not unreasonable and I did not badger him or even express my extreme displeasure, nor was I rude at any time.
Honestly I do not understand how companies like this stay in business. Do what you say, when you say you will do it. If something happens to prevent that, contact your client to let them know. Simple.
"I went with my gut. I discontinued service and respectful way. I did not charge you for any service provided. And based on your rant I made the right choice."
Very personable and professional.
Two of his crew continued on, did their work, cleaned up and left.
I was left with the impression that they cared very much about the quality of their work.
Perfect.
