A day after picking up my 15-week old puppy I brought her here to complete the third vaccination needed in the series. Due to COVID-19, the visit had to be conducted over the phone while I waited in the car. Unfortunately for me and my wallet, Eastside Veterinary Associates used my inability to be in the room to their advantage. I have seen my parents get taken advantage of by vets with my family dogs, so I was skeptical, voicing my concerns from the beginning. The vet tech answered my questions cheerfully and reassured me, shame on me for trusting her. The first problem was the fear tactics the vet used. Rather than taking things one visit at a time, she jumped to worst-case scenarios and their costly treatments. I want to know these scenarios, but the veterinarian pushed them when there were much more likely and less costly explanations for my dog’s symptoms. My next issue with this animal hospital is they over-vaccinated my dog. I sent my puppy in with the paperwork from her previous vet which listed the Bordetella vaccine as one she had already received just about a month prior. After receiving the paper copy of the bill I noticed I was charged for them to give it to her again. The also pushed very hard for vaccinations that my pet would not need, trying to guilt-trip me for saying no. Additionally, my puppy had an ear infection. I am irritated with the way this was handled because prior to the vet even finishing giving me the list of the charges over the phone, (which was extremely difficult to keep track of due to lack of transparency) she revealed the tech had already looked at the ear sample under a microscope for a $40 charge. The medication was also added to the bill at double the price of what it can be found online. If you have money to burn, this place is fine. If you don’t, Eastside Veterinary Associates is wildly overpriced. I am aware the veterinary industry commonly uses up-selling practices, but the aggression used by this place is appalling. After speaking with someone at the office, there was no resolution. I simply received an apology for the miscommunication with an admission that the vet failed to gather the complete details only after she spoke in circles about the care my dog had received.
Response from Eastside Veterinary Associates
"[Member Name Removed], We are sorry we didn't meet your expectations. Our staff is working very hard to continue to provide full veterinary services for our community during COVID-19, but we understand it can be challenging to discuss over the phone instead of in person. Our staff strives to educate our clients with the best recommendations including why a vaccine needs to be boostered, and discuss in detail abnormalities and treatment options found during exams. You verbally agreed to all treatments and charges over the phone and signed the typed estimate we brought out to your car when we discharged your dog. If you had changed your mind and didn't want to take home ear cleaner, ear medication or oral dewormer, we wish you had told us and we would have returned it for you on the spot. We work with many clients on tight budgets including providing written prescriptions if you elect to price compare with other pharmacies. We will always give you our best recommendation. However, we are open to you declining anything if your medical philosophy differs from ours or if something is cost prohibitive. Hartley is adorable and we wish you the best of luck in finding a vet that is a better fit for you. Sincerely, Management team at Eastside Vet Associates"

I had to put a pet down. I was looking for someone to come to the house. I didn't want to take the animal to the clinic. I was informed that this vet took house calls. I tell my friends about her and give them her name. She was amazing.

I don't know how to grade price because I don't know what other vet clinics charge. They can't improve, they are the best. I love them. I have been using them for about 8 to 9 years.

They have an animal hospital and they also have just a regular vet office, plus they have boarding. They also have an emergency hospital for emergency based in Tukwila. They're excellent. The vet that we go to there has the same breed of dog that we do, so she is very familiar. I don't know what other places charge because I don't really care, I just want her to take care of my dog. They just opened last spring, so they don't have a lot of traffic yet.

Excellent!! We had brought our 16 year old cat in and found out she had cancer. They were very warm and understanding. They gave us time with our Jennyanydots before and after we put her to sleep. We recently brought a new puppy into our family and Eastside Veterinary Services was the only choice for us!! Highly recommended!!

I have only taken my cats there once, but will continue to use Eastside Vets Clinic from now on. I moved here recently and was looking for a good veterinary and think I found one. The facilities are clean and pleasant, the staff very friendly and helpful, and the vets and technicians thorough and gentle. I had records of the last three years of vet services for my two cats and took them in a few days before my appointment date. They copied the records and the vet had taken the time to read through the past records before our appointment. She was aware of their special medical issues and was able to prescribe some medication that has helped.
The parking is a little tight and if you don't get a spot in their small lot, it means you have to lug carriers up some stairs from the street.
I was on time ( five minutes early) for my appointment and had a very long wait in waiting room before our turn. Other than those two issues, I was very pleased with the service. The cost appears high for the services, but includes some medication - I felt it was a reasonable charge for the quality service provided.

We were very happy with Eastside Vet. The office is clean and the staff is friendly. The doctor and staff were very patient with our very excitable puppy and the stress the dog created for me. Following the exam in which the doctor found the start of a parasitical problem, she sent me an e-mail with information on related to the infection and treatment. When we took the dog in to have her spay, again the doctor and staff were excellent. The surgery was performed on time and the aftercare was outstanding (the puppy hardly any scaring visible scaring on her tummy). I was expecting the dog to be afraid to return to the vet's office after the surgery, but she loves them. I have taken Jadizia (the dog) with me to pick up various items and she loves to go see the vet and staff, unbelievable! I highly recommend Eastside Veterinary Associates, I wish I could find a human doctor that was as good.

They are excellent. The two lady doctors there have great staff. They have great punctuality, they explain things really thoroughly and they have great bedside manners. My dog loves them. There is something about them that my dog just loves. If there is something that I don't like or something I don't want them to do, they pretty understand about that. They are very clean. I used to work in veterinarian research about 25 years ago. I was working with Washington State University; so I know what's good with veterinary and what's not. I was in research however.

I visited the office on the date noted to put down one of my pets. I had called in advance and was given an appointment time that I wanted. When I arrived in the office I was allowed to wait in an exam room so that I had privacy with my pet. One of the techs explained the procedure to me and answered all of my questions. I was asked if I wanted to stay with my pet during the procedure. My feelings and wishes were always the priority with the staff. Dr. Hung performed the procedure and was very gentle and caring the whole time. She was very respectful of my pet and of my feelings. It was truly comforting to have her there. Once the procedure was done I was allowed to stay with my pet to say goodbye. I was encouraged to stay as long as I wanted. I have been to this practice many, many times and I truly enjoy everyone on the staff. They are committed, dedicated professionals who are enjoyable to work with. I have the utmost confidence in the services they provide for me and my pets. I like that the doctors explain treatment options very well and include me completely in the decision making process. I don't feel pressured to accept any treatment options and my questions about benefits are answered throughly.

Dr. Kennedy has been wonderful to work with. She understands that I want to make this dear one comfortable and happy, but I don't feel it makes sense to go to extraordinary efforts to reduce the symptoms of aging. I have been very impressed by Dr. Kennedy's conscientious, diligent efforts to understand the sources of any health issues we have with Katy, and to help us with those, without crossing the line into exploratory surgery or other treatments that don't make sense for us. I am also very impressed with the staff at Eastside Veterinary Associates. The desk staff are efficient and caring at the same time, and have been very responsive when we have had a couple of instances of needing prompt responses. I had to put another cat down about a year ago, working with another of the vet's at Eastside, Dr. Hung. I was really grateful for their tender care. The entire office staff was truly wonderful. This is a great operation, I highly recommend Dr. Kennedy and the entire office.

Dr. Kennedy is a great veterinarian. I feel completely comfortable with leaving my pets with her. She is easy to talk to and very professional. I would recommend her to others. She is very good with geriatric care for animals.
