After two years with Cobalt they and quot;soldand quot; my mortgage to some fly-by-night bill collections company in New York. They have a history of doing this with customer's mortgage paper. A little about me, I have never paid late, my credit score is in the 800+ range, and was told (of course no broker can make this promise) my mortgage paper would not be sold due to the fact my credit is so strong.... DON'T USE COBALT YOU WILL REGRET IT!!! These guys they sold my paper to have no automated bill pay system, no way to manage your account online, and you will be dealing with bill collectors when you call with questions. Furthermore, having your mortgage serviced by a bottom tier credit collector, will adversely impact your credit and quot;pictureand quot;. I very much regret not using Wells Fargo, or my credit union, for my mortgage. DON'T LET THIS HAPPEN TO YOU!

Terrible. The worst experience we've ever had after buying/selling 10 properties. Closing was 4 days late and only because we pushed hard. At one point we were told to get a 10 day extension.
The broker we first contacted passed us off to underlings with no explanation. We received a timetable to close that would have had us closing on time only to have it blown away by inaction on the broker's part. We were contacted 3 times by the broker trying to give us the excuse that our mortgage was delayed because we were buying into a 6 unit building. However we signed initial documents with the lending bank and got a rate guarantee over 3 weeks before closing so the lender had already been selected when were being told that was still to happen and that was the reason for the delay.
The broker called us directly to try to discredit our agent when she complained about the delays. He suggested that an extension of 10 days was no big deal when the seller had to have the funds to close on his purchase 4 days after our original closing date.
Frankly we believe that the impact of a delay is not the broker's business to assess. Any delay in closing is unprofessional and inexcusable unless there is a real reason for it.
The broker is also the area manager for Cobalt so we feel that this experience reflects badly on Cobalt as an organization. In addition my son, closing with a few days of us on his first home, had to go to another mortgage company and fire his Cobalt broker for inaction and lack of attention to his process.

We purchased a house that builders had just broken-ground on. Sometime around the 3-month period of building there had been several changes to the mortgage industry. Those changes were overlooked by our agent. We were literally a week before the house was set to close, everything had been smooth sailing, this is after we had personally picked all the flooring, cabinets, finishes, and made structural-changes to the house, all-of-the-sudden we were being told by Julie and her assistant that the entire deal might not go through.
Once we began escalating the issues to the manager of the branch the professionalism and common-decency completely went out the window. I've never been talked-to by someone providing me a service in this way. I was asked and quot;...does everything in your life turn out perfectly, Paul?and quot; and after originally hearing and quot;I'm with you in this, all the way through.and quot; when the problems started we heard and quot;Well, you need to have accounted for all the possibilities.and quot; Julie's assistant called my wife at work and said and quot; This is never going to go through.and quot; which put my wife into hysterics. Then we were asked at the last-minute (after requesting we be very conservative in our overall plan to buy) if we could borrow several thousand dollars somewhere, from family, friends, anyone.
Having worked as support staff in the real estate industry, we personally know several people who work for Cobalt and also know many real estate agents who recommend Cobalt, and we would consider those people to be very reputable/trustworthy.
But our horrible experience with Julie Jones leads me to write this warning and say that we, personally, will never use Cobalt Mortgage again.

My real estate agent recommended Cobalt Mortgage when I purchased a condominium in Seattle. I worked with planner Jennifer Fisher and production coordinator Kellie McNulty to arrange a 15-year mortgage. Jennifer was great at communication, thoroughly explaining my options and helping me find the right loan. Cobalt's rates were also excellent: even with -1.000 discount point (decreasing my closing costs while increasing the interest rate) I found a 15-year loan for scarcely higher than the national average.
During the application and approval process, I especially appreciated how technically savvy Jennifer and Kellie were. Until I signed my documents at the escrow company, I was able to get documents sent back and forth electronically, saving me time, money, and hassle.
Buying a home is a process characterized by long silent stretches followed by sudden short deadlines. Throughout my buying process, the Cobalt Mortgage team maintained excellent communication by phone and by e-mail. I would highly recommend them to anyone who is looking for a mortgage in Seattle.

Ron was very helpful well before we decided to make an offer on our purchase through the closing: including all the hoops that the lenders were making us go through. Ron did a great job navigating the jumbo/mega jumbo market options for us and would definitely reccomend him.
