General Remodeling
OVERALL, WE ARE HAPPY WITH THE FINAL DESIGN, BUT IT WAS A SOMEWHAT PAINFUL PROCESS TO GET THERE. WE STARTED IN SEPTEMBER 03, AND DID NOT GET THE DRAWINGS UNTIL DECEMBER 04, AFTER READING THE RIOT ACT TO THE CONTRACTOR IN NOVEMBER 04. IN FAIRNESS, SOME OF THE DELAY WAS CUSTOMER-CAUSED (APPROX. 3-4 MONTHS). WE ARE CONTINUING WITH THE REMODEL, AND SINCE NOVEMBER 04 THE CONTRACTOR HAS BEEN VERY RESPONSIVE AND COMMUNICATES WITH US FREQUENTLY. MY RECOMMENDATION IS TO AGREE ON SPECIFIC DEADLINES (AND I MEAN DATES), AND HOLD ALL PARTIES TO THEM.
