The result was a total disaster. He couldn't fix the drywall and created more problems to be fixed. He used a bigger
frame than the existing framing. The wall turned out bowed and curved. There are three different paint textures on the same wall. There were holes in the ceiling. The closet door can?t be closed. Even the painting he did was uneven.
Oscar doesn't know how to do the work, but he is good in writing contracts. Half way through building the closet, we
wanted to fire him. We didn't because of the contract he made us sign. We also didn't sue him because we
have to pay his lawyer?s fee. There are only few options under the contract. (a) Repair the nonconforming services (b) Replacement of the non-conforming services, or (c) a refund of Customer?s contract price. We contacted him, and he said he can fix the problems with additional costs. He said he will only refund $150. That was a month ago. We didn't receive any money, and since then there has been no communication from Oscar at all.
We got four different contractors to estimate the repair. Each of them was surprised by the poor work. We paid Oscar
$2600 to build a walk in closet, and then we spent another $2000 to fix his work. We've hired many different contractors to
remodel our house; Oscar is the worse one we have ever hired.
Oscar is not a skilled contractor, but a smart business man. He told us he built an entire house, but couldn't build a walk in closet? All he seems to care about is his profit and nothing else. Oscar and his company ?Omikron Handy Services? are good at getting business, but they will get our business only once. If you hire Oscar, you may have to spend a lot more to fix the result as we had to do.
