The owner/technician gave me some valuable advice. He said that all modern big screen t.v.'s have computer chips in them and it doesn't matter what brand you buy in 4 to 5 years they will break down. This is true as I have already replaced a lamp on my set and the Sony was less then 3 years old. He said Plasma's was even worse. He recommends not spending over $1,000 for a T.V. Also the air holes on your t.v. should be kept clean of dust. A light vacuuming should do. If you have an older t.v. and you don't need high def. then keep it and repair it when it goes out. They will last many years longer then the new ones. Hoped this helped.
