The project was completed 3+ months late, required
considerable oversight and a number of elements remain unfinished. I engaged
Malone Landscaping in July with the understanding that the company could
complete the job in 5 weeks. The project
started at the end of August but was not completed until November. The delay was caused by Malone selecting an
unreliable stone company and rework to key elements of the project. The stone company shipped the stone late and missed
a portion of the order. The reword
included replacing the coping 3 times, rebuilding elements of the fence,
leveling the front yard per original requirements and numerous smaller
elements.
The project manager for the project was infrequently
onsite. I had to repeatedly call and
email the team to remind them of outstanding work for the project ? fix the
fence, add sand to the path, etc... I also
had to act as the quality control for the project as the team rarely identified
issues on their own. I estimate that I
invested 20+ hours supporting this project.
Despite diligently detailing the outstanding issues with the
project there were a number of issues that were never fixed. The crew never drilled holes in the bottom of
the gates to ensure the rain would not pool and rot the fence. The corners were the top rail of the fence
met were not sanded to ensure a smooth transition. The dead grass where the crewed stored the plants
was not replaced. The front gate does
not close properly even after 2 attempts by the crew.
What really disappointed me was the absentee owner. I attempted to engage him multiple times (phone
and email) to alert him to delays and issues with the project. He never responded to my attempts and I only
heard from him when he emailed to ask about the final check. I?m sure you?ll agree that this is not the best
approach to running a business.
Feel free to email me with any questions.
Thank you,

"Thank you for taking the time to give us your feedback on the recent project my team completed for you. I have to say we were surprised and disappointed at the review since project was completed mid November. You told our Landscape Architect you were pleased with your landscape, and were sending final payment. Since then a month has gone by and payment has not been received. I personally reached out to you last week and you had no issues and apologized for not sending payment and would do so right away. As the owner, I am involved with my team on all projects and they have addressed every concern you have had along the way as well as replacing special order items at significant cost to us that you picked out but did not like once they were installed. These things happen and we are always happy to make changes or rework things along the way to ensure your satisfaction. We take pride in our work and have gone above and beyond to address any and all or your concerns. Our company has been in business for over 24 years and we have thousands of happy clients who continue to use us and refer us to friends and family because they trust us and know we are dedicated to them. We stand behind our work and we will continue be here if you have any warranty issues once your final payment has been received. We do appreciate the feedback and will always strive to make improvements in our company."
"Thank you for the kind review!"

In November the crew came back to do phase two of the project. This consisted of removing sod and working on the sprinkler system. Also they shaped the yard in accordance with the design and prepared the yard for the flower beds and trees and vegetable garden. They also spread the yard with weed killer and control. They added fine bark and Steeco to the flower beds.
Phase one and two of my landscaping project went very well. I am thoroughly satisfied with the work that was performed by Malone Landscaping. Mr Jim Welnak my contract specialist communicated with me through out the first two phases keeping me up to date of everything that was supposed to be done and scheduling the work.
I am looking forward to working with the Malone Landscape and Design company and Jim in particular this Spring on phase three of my landscape project. It has really been very enjoyable working with Jim and his crew.
landscape plan for our backyard and met both our design and budget
expectations. He was with us for every step of the project and we
cannot say enough about how great he was to work with. The only downside was that we started in the spring and they were incredibly busy - it took about the whole summer to complete the project, but it was worth it. We ran into some issues with our deck and needing to redo some flashing next to the house, but they took care of it no problem. they continue to provide lawn maintenance advice and are very knowledgeable. They stand behind their work and produce a great product.
Workmen showed up first day and took out shrubs and 3 trees. They they took out the walkway and the porch. Tim Glass our contractor designed a new drain system and porch and walkway. The workers dug lots of dirt out and installed a new drain system. They then prepared the courtyard and porch area for tiles. Tiles went in and porch was built.
Tim was there checking everything and answering questions every other day. We also had access to him through email and phone.
Time was very clear with us on what he and the workmen were doing and the reasoning behind it.
I have had lots of work done on my house and have to say this was the first project that did not have me stressing out.
