Sadly, this portion of our overall remodel has gone horribly. It began once our excavator dug out the hole for our new basement and the foundation guy (Dave) was supposed to show up the next day to build the forms for the footings and walls. Not only did he not show up, but no-one could find him for over a week. Having already taken a deposit from the excavator, our excavator was finally able to track him down. Dave had been "sick", although hadn't called to tell anyone this, he just disappeared. He finally showed up and began work, bringing only his own forms and borrowing our contractor's tools. After several days of a lot of unprofessional behavior, he finally got the forms up, and poured the footings and foundation walls. The final walls were "usable", but had a lot of slop around the edge, were missing some straps, had one strap in the wrong place, and ultimately didn't remove all of his forms, causing a lot of extra work for both our excavator and contractor.
Description of Work: Let me preface this by saying that we did not hire Dave Geyer Construction directly, but he was hired as a sub through our excavator, so the process was a bit different than it would be for a direct hire. The cost from above is based on the amount of money we know went directly to Geyer Construction, and doesn't include materials, etc., which was rolled into the cost from our excavator. The concrete portion of our project (an addition and remodel to our house) involved two components: 1) Footings and 8' walls for a new basement, equaling about 20' wide by 14' long and 2)New slab and exterior stairs for the basement. Geyer Construction was supposed to do both portions, but only did the footings and walls before disappearing. We're not sad to see him (Dave Geyer) go and not do the second portion of the work - see below. Our excavator - Randy of Terra Specialties, Inc. has bent over backwards to make everything right, and will get a glowing review from us.
