Technician showed up on time - was polite and professional. He informed us that the smoke detectors we had were in fact, NOT part of the alarm system so there was nothing they could do to fix the errant detector. Our only real reasonably priced option was to install a battery operated unit and unplug the buggy detector - ok - fine. The rekeying of the passcode for the security pad involved the technician making a phone call to where ever for instructions on how to accomplish this. There were repeated attempts until finally the keypad could be re-coded. The rate was $97.50/hr with a 2 hour minimum. PLUS a $30 fuel charge! (most vendors I deal with have been charging perhaps $10 for fuel surcharges). Then of course, sales tax on top of that. The final total was $246 to have our security system keypad re-set. The technician was fine but if you can find someone else to do this work for less - go for it. The cost seemed excessive to me.
Description of Work: We had an alarm system installed years ago in our home and no longer had the password to change the code as the home had been rented out the past few years and the information was lost. We contacted the company that had taken over for the original installers to reset the password for the alarm system. We also had a smoke detector (hard wired) that keeps going off for no reason and wanted that fixed.
