Chet's Roofing & Construction

Overall it went very well. Took more time than first thought because of the extra work. We liked the way Chets crew cleaned up every day. They took care to do a good job, and it shows!

We obtained 4 bids. Two of the four we were comfortable with. We chose Chet's Roofing and were very satisfied with the responsiveness and the work done. We forgot to tell them we found them on Angie's list and when we informed them of this a few days later they immediately sent us a check for the Angie's member 5% discount.

Punctual, professional, responsive. I went with a different company because the price was a lil higher than the other but otherwise I recommend this contractor. If the rep was any sign of their overall quality I would be very confident having them do my work.

They were very good. They checked out the infection and provided a solution to the inspection response.

First they put down the two new shingles and then proceeded to clean out the gutters with a leaf blower. They cleaned up the debris that was scattered in the neighbors yard by the blower. I asked if they noticed any other damage up there and if our roof needed to be "cleaned." I obviously dont know much about roofs and was surprised by their honest answers to my questions which could have easily generated them additional income due to my naivete. Price seemed incredibly high due to the fact that they were here for no more than 45 minutes total.

Chet's sent an estimator named Edgar who arrived exactly on time, shortly after we asked for the bid. He was very friendly and professional. I had other bids but Edgar's attitude won me over, and Chet's came in with a good price, well before some other companies even got around to setting up their appointments with us. Their crew showed up on time and completed the work in 2.5 days, and cleaned up very well when they were done. There were some mix-ups in the front office about the terms of our contract and payment, but the company settled everything to our satisfaction.

from start to finish, it was simple, efficient, timely, and customer friendly. they do a great job, and the price is fantastic. i later had Chet's paint the outside of my house. the paint job was just as impressive as the roofing.

i have nothing bad to say about Chet's. i was overwhelmed by the simplicity and lack of complications. they are a good company with good people in their employ. the price is right for the customer, and Chet's delivers. let us put it this way. i had them put on a whole new roofing system ( Ridge-Vent System ) for me back in April 2007. it is now May 23, 2009. i am very impressed with their roofing job. they painted the exterior of my house in August of 2007. i am much more impressed, now.

The whole experience went well. The gentleman who came out to give me an estimate was very informative and answered all of my questions. They gave me a date that they were going to start and said it would probably take about four days. They came out on time and finished the job in two. You couldn't have asked for a better crew. They did a great job.

They were very good and they cleaned up their mess. Their price was what I expected. They were very efficient nice, people. If I ever needed another roof I would absolutely hire them again.

Their work was very good and they were professional, informative and nice. We did think that the price was very high.

I was home when the crew arrived (with no crew chief) to complete the work and was also home when the work was completed. However, no one knocked on the door to let me know that the roof of the entire side porch had collapsed. I found out when I walked outside to leave the house. Not only had the entire side porch collapsed, but I had also discovered a safety hazard. The exterior lamp had been ripped from the wall with exposed wires left out. I waited for a phone call and received a call from someone in the office on behalf of Chet. 3 days later, Chet and I finally spoke when he offered to repair the side porch for me at a significantly discounted rate. When I asked him about how this happened, he got very defensive and quite angry and told me that his company cannot be responsible for the structural integrity of any building and that there was no way his guys could have known that the side porch was not sound. Chet's overreaction provided the impetus to do my own research with other roofing companies and with the contractor that renovated my basement the previous year. I learned that Chet was right, it's not always easy to tell if a structure is sound, but I also learned from my contractor that the side porch was clearly not sound and Chet's roofing never should have gotten on top of it in the first place. Chet offered me a $350 discount for my troubles, which I do not think makes up for the fact that my side porch collapsed. In good faith that we would be able to reach an agreement on this matter, I submitted payment for half of the original invoice. I never heard back from Chet's roofing until I received a certified letter from them informing me that I had been sent to collections.

They did an excellent job. They were very responsive to my request for quotation and gave me a very thorough cost estimate, provided a detail of the statement of work and the accompanying sales agreement in about a two hour time frame. The estimator was thorough, cordial and quick. They performed all the work per the statement of work and some additional work they discovered as they got into the job on a reasonable time and materials basis. The persons performing the work were respectful, gregarious and a pleasure with whom to deal.

They did a very good job. They were very professional when they were there. There was some problems when they were done and they came back out and fixed them with no charge.

They did the repair in a timely fashion. They cleaned up well and I was very satisfied.

They were to strip and remove an existing roof on a house and a garage (approx. 1800 sq ft). They had bid to remove two layers of roofing, but it turned out that they had to remove four layers, which resulted in a change in the price. Upon stripping off the roof on the detached garage, I asked and found out that there were only three layers on the garage. I called their office and they made a price adjustment. I had to call them back to clean up around the house.

I got several bids for the roof. I noticed they left several things out, but i notified them about it and they took care of it. They didn't quite fully explain my options. All that I learned about being up to code and everything raised it from $6000-7000. They did a fine job. There was a tiny problem when they started installing. They had to stop because they realized the material was bad. They simply left and didn't tell me, but they came back the next day with the materials. I was a little confused. I would recommend them and use them again.

It took over a year to finish the job. They waited until winter and did not take advantage of the dry days. They finally did come and seal the roof and did not finish the deck for another six months. The contract did not include the gutters that were promised by the estimator. The railing they installed was not up to building codes. The worker's were good guys, but Chet the owner would not return calls and was abusive when he did talk to us.

Overall, I needed someone to fix the sag in the roof and a lot of contractors wouldn't do it. These guys were efficient and reasonably priced. They were very hard workers.

The owner used obscene language. The attitude was very poor. He would not accept the final checklist and used the obscene language. He did not give any advice as to what kind of shakes I should use. I don't think he's knowledgeable. The billing was very poor.

Sales Rep Yury was very helpful and available to answer our questions. He showed up when scheduled, provided thorough information. Work crew showed up as scheduled and in essence completed the project in one day. Initial inspection of the work revealed a moderate punch list of items to complete or re-do, but Jerry, the inspector ensured the work was completed as promised. Overall, a good experience.

I was very pleased. This company did exactly what they said that they would do, and seemed to do a good job (although I have not gotten up on that very steep roof to really inspect closely.) It was easy to get an estimate and then schedule the repair job. My work schedule conflicted, so I was not able to be home, but they got everything done quickly anyway.

Chet's did the work in January and February so the had to watch the weather and do the work during dry spells which is not easy to do. They did a wonderful job. The crew was very efficient and hard working, safety was a big factor, and they did a great job cleaning up after the job was finished.

The installation of the skylight and the drywall work took two days, one day for the skylight and one day for the drywalls. Both works were carried out in a very professional and thorough manner and the result is excellent. It looks like the skylight had been part of the original design! Both work crews cleaned up thoroughly afterwards and overall I am very satisfied with the result. They had to reroute some plumbing to make room for the skylight, which increased the initial estimate by $100, which seems reasonable, given the amount of extra work.

They fixed it very well and quickly. They also gave me an estimate for a new partial or a full roof if I want to do that in the future. I would recommend them.
