1. To begin with, they wanted to change my roof when it was raining cats and dogs. I researched online and found out that it is absolutely a bad idea. I asked the crew lead: "isn't a bad idea to install roofs in the rain?" He said, well my boss sent me. You should talk to him. So he gave me the owner's phone number (Chet). Chet agreed not to do the work in that day and hung up. It alarmed me that this company does not hold their customers' best interest in what they do.
2. The delivery company delivered the roofing materials by an 18 wheeler truck and a crane. The truck made a large hole in the concrete of my driveway. The driver told me that he had warned Chet that this driveway will be damaged, but Chet instructed him to do it anyway! When Chet and his assistant showed up to see the damage. He was agitated, hostile, and unreasonable, telling me: If your driveway was new this would have not happened! Why didn't you change your driveway a few years ago? I am not responsible for damage done by a third party.
3. There were overcharges of $1177.0 on my bill that I caught and they fixed. a. An additional charge for pipe & cap where it was already in the contract as part of the bid. b. Was charged for 60 plywood sheets where I had counted them to be 42 and 10 of which were not used and taken back by the crew. Then Chet verifies it "somehow" by phone in a matter of seconds and changes the bill! However, the unused 10 sheets were ignored.
4. Chet offered to pay me $800.00 for the concrete damage to which I agreed. Then after weeks gone by, he sent me an agreement that if I sign it to promise that I won't write a negative review about Chet's roofing and construction then he will pay for the damage! Of course, I did not agree to it, and they did not pay for the damage.
5. The roof installation was not done properly. The Certainteed Presidential shake composition - which comes in multi-layers with some raised sections - should have been installed in such a way to create a uniformed pattern on the roof. But that is not the case of my new roof and even there are many of these raised sections are side by side!
The standard of work quality and integrity of business conduct are set by the business owner and when the owner is to be concerned, then that business is not reliable to deal with.
"First of all, after we signed a contract with the homeowner, she called us several times a day to tell us she was online, and researched how to install a roof, so she considered herself to know more than experienced roofers, and after being harassed for days the owner did ask her to stop harassing us and that we know what we are doing. Then on the day we were delivering the shingle and materials, in pre-packaged plastic covered shingles that were impenetrable from water, it was drizzling. She wanted the material returned because the shingles got wet, and shingles aren't supposed to get wet, according to her. Why do we put shingles on roofs if they aren't supposed to get wet? Shingles are designed to get wet, that is why they are used in ROOFING. When the supplier arrived at her premises, he noticed that her driveway was old and severely cracked all over. He knocked on her door to let her know and contacted our office to verify if okay to pull into driveway. It was decided that since the driveway was already in such bad shape, that pulling in and delivering the material wasn't going to make any difference. Secondly, in our contract it states that if the supplier's loading truck cannot go up to your house via your driveway to load material, and we have to manually load the roof, that there would be an additional cost for that labor work. She did not want to pay for us to hand carry the bundles up on her roof. Therefore, we took 23 photos of her damaged driveway that was already cracked, so that we could see if there was any additional damage done by the supplier's truck. There ended up being a one foot spot that indented where it was already cracked. The homeowner became agitated and argumentative, saying derogative things on the phone to our office staff. Finally she was offered $800 to pay for the dent in her driveway, by us, not the supplier, in return that she not be one of those homeowners that goes on line writing all kinds of rude stuff against us. If there had been a roof install issue that would have been a different story and we would have rectified the situation, as it would have pertained to her warranty. She refused in writing by email to accept the $800 payment. A month later we get a court notice that she is now demanding the $800. When we came to court, she NEVER said anything to the Judge that there was anything wrong with her roof install, and to date has not ever called and complained that there was anything wrong with her roof install. The Judge wouldn't listen to our side or review the 23 photographs of the driveway and only concentrated on the fact that we asked her not to do what she is now doing. We gave her a check for $900 anyway, ordered by the Judge. We just want the truth to be told. We have learned over the years that the hard working Americans that work seven days a week, are going to encounter people that are going to unfairly besmudged their company. It is absolutely inevitable. Fortunately we do have the privilege of working with the finest family's in the Puget Sound area. Good honest people that make our work fullfilling and will forever make us feel fulfilled whenever we witness their satisfaction with our work."
