I had many options and colors to pick from for my new roof and one that fit my budget. The crew arrived early and got busy, the job was done very professionally. All of the debris was placed in a bin and removed at the end of the job. The cleanup was if they had not been here. The price was very fair, I got several estimates and their bid was not the lowest or the highest. I am very pleased with the outcome and have a 30-year warranty that is transferable should I at some point decide to sell my home. I have had no problems with the new roof of any kind but know if I did I could count on Chet's Roofing to be there for me. Great Company and great customer service.

Chet’s sub contracted out the demo work, who bent a side pedestrian gate. They also made a huge mess and didn’t want to clean it up off the driveway. Next day was the gutter installation. Gutters looked good but had a leak. After several emails without responses Chet’s eventually came out a few weeks later with 15 minutes notice and repaired the bent gate and leak.

Went smoothly. Completely both the skylite and the kitchen fan roof exhaust in 4 hrs. I did not discover any leak after it done. Outside roof appearance is good. Workers are professional and know what is required to complete the job. The kitchen fan roof exhaust is a tricky one and cannot be done with conventional flashing. So the installer use a torch down roof method instead. Good thinking. Pic show both the skylite and the kitchen fan roof exhaust.

While it leaked after the initial repair, they worked with us to replace the skylight to fully correct the issue. They were very responsive and ensured no further leaking would take place until the final repair could be made. Both the person we worked in the office, and the crew on our site, were very responsive and respectful. It was a great experience having them do this work for us.

A DISASTER AFTER ONLY TWO DAYS! WE HAVE NEVER JOINED THESE SITES AND SENT ANY REVIEWS ON ANY PAST ISSUES WITH TRADES BECAUSE THEY WERE BAD AND COST US A LOT OF MONEY FOR THEIR POOR WORK BUT THIS HAD TO BE SOMETHING NOBODY COULD EXPECT. After only two days installing 250 s.f.(of 8000 on this home) and finding the crew not properly installing any of the aluminum flashing and roof tiles per the installation instructions, using the wrong safety fasteners on the roof tie offs (should be 16D gal. and they used much smaller and only put two in where it required eight!), leaving the forklift unattended with the materials on a pallet up in the air, asking others on the site as well as ourselves very personal questions such as "where we got the money", invading my personal space with contact from them such as an arm on the shoulder etc! I reported the invasion of my personal space and inappropriate touching, inappropriate comments, speaking to our employees and others on a personal nature etc. By the second day when it was obvious they had no idea what they were doing we sent photos to Chet and he agreed it was not correct but when he came out he hollered, started dictating to his assistant his comments of how perfect the job was and everything is done just right etc and made it clear in several statements he was calling his attorney! I think that was the best step he did was get an attorney; at least hopefully someone will be intelligent and understand the work was not proper, the proposal was not followed, we have incurred thousands of dollars loss from the damaged tiles that are not resuable when they are removed, the same with the aluminum, they cut holes in the Ice and Water Shield for reasons unknown to us and that made rain pour into the home over our $65,000 order of Marvin windows and doors stored in the house since April with never a drop before on them!!! I told Chet they did this and he had no concern, he continued to yell and would not even consider our request to have a different crew come out and see if they had the skills and knowledge to do this installation. His response was to not consider that, he refused to allow the fascia installer to continue when he was doing an all right job and we asked to at least allow him to finish as that proposal was a separate price and it would be easy to settle up and have that done which we desperately needed. In lieu of any step to help or remedy he sent an invoice for $27,712.56!!! This represented 30% of the total proposal to install the 8000 s.f. of this home and yet they installed (improperly) only 250 s.f. which is about 3%! So Chet is demanding 30% for performing 3% and it was all wrong on the roof and the roof flashings!! (Yelp has more details on this with the breakdown on his billing which is so absurd! He billed for "commissions, site visits, OVERHEAD COMPANY COST OF 20% ($14,995.17), hourly labor, yard crew labor costs etc etc.) I will follow up with more later but had to get this out to alert anyone. We were so fooled by his very professional web site, well done, great video, numerous web ads with nice complete details, and looks so complete with his "40 years! of experts etc." The man whom came to write the proposal was great, he was intelligent, understood the roof tiles and had experience and knowledge it appeared in all aspects of this business and really wrote a complete professional proposal and we had no idea it was the only good thing about Chets. Had we met Chet, not that great elderly man with a lot of experience, soft spoken and sincere, we would never have chosen Chet since he is 180 degree opposite! Loud, arrogant, demeaned his men, shouted at me and everyone and has a short fuse and thinks he can intimidate by threats of attorneys when that is the best for us to deal with an attorney not this loudmouth that won't listen to anyone. ok, please heed advice, look at reviews read them (sorry we did not) but now I see them on Yelp, Judy's etc and realize we are not alone as his victims. We will upload photos in the future so you can see the results!!!

I had my roof changed by Chet's roofing and construction in November 2015, and the experience was a nightmare.
1. To begin with, they wanted to change my roof when it was raining cats and dogs.  I researched online and found out that it is absolutely a bad idea. I asked the crew lead: "isn't a bad idea to install roofs in the rain?"  He said, well my boss sent me.  You should talk to him.  So he gave me the owner's phone number (Chet). Chet agreed not to do the work in that day and hung up.  It alarmed me that this company does not hold their customers' best interest in what they do.
2. The delivery company delivered the roofing materials by an 18 wheeler truck and a crane.  The truck made a large hole in the concrete of my driveway. The driver told me that he had warned Chet that this driveway will be damaged, but Chet instructed him to do it anyway!  When Chet and his assistant showed up to see the damage. He was agitated, hostile, and unreasonable, telling me: If your driveway was new this would have not happened! Why didn't you change your driveway a few years ago? I am not responsible for damage done by a third party.
3. There were overcharges of $1177.0 on my bill that I caught and they fixed. a. An additional charge for pipe & cap where it was already in the contract as part of the bid.  b. Was charged for 60 plywood sheets where I had counted them to be 42 and 10 of which were not used and taken back by the crew.  Then Chet verifies it "somehow" by phone in a matter of seconds and changes the bill!  However, the unused 10 sheets were ignored.
4. Chet offered to pay me $800.00 for the concrete damage to which I agreed. Then after weeks gone by, he sent me an agreement that if I sign it to promise that I won't write a negative review about Chet's roofing and construction then he will pay for the damage!  Of course, I did not agree to it, and they did not pay for the damage.
5. The roof installation was not done properly. The Certainteed Presidential shake composition - which comes in multi-layers with some raised sections - should have been installed in such a way to create a uniformed pattern on the roof.  But that is not the case of my new roof and even there are many of these raised sections are side by side!
The standard of work quality and integrity of business conduct are set by the business owner and when the owner is to be concerned, then that business is not reliable to deal with.
Response from Chet's Roofing & Construction
"First of all, after we signed a contract with the homeowner, she called us several times a day to tell us she was online, and researched how to install a roof, so she considered herself to know more than experienced roofers, and after being harassed for days the owner did ask her to stop harassing us and that we know what we are doing. Then on the day we were delivering the shingle and materials, in pre-packaged plastic covered shingles that were impenetrable from water, it was drizzling. She wanted the material returned because the shingles got wet, and shingles aren't supposed to get wet, according to her. Why do we put shingles on roofs if they aren't supposed to get wet? Shingles are designed to get wet, that is why they are used in ROOFING. When the supplier arrived at her premises, he noticed that her driveway was old and severely cracked all over. He knocked on her door to let her know and contacted our office to verify if okay to pull into driveway. It was decided that since the driveway was already in such bad shape, that pulling in and delivering the material wasn't going to make any difference. Secondly, in our contract it states that if the supplier's loading truck cannot go up to your house via your driveway to load material, and we have to manually load the roof, that there would be an additional cost for that labor work. She did not want to pay for us to hand carry the bundles up on her roof. Therefore, we took 23 photos of her damaged driveway that was already cracked, so that we could see if there was any additional damage done by the supplier's truck. There ended up being a one foot spot that indented where it was already cracked. The homeowner became agitated and argumentative, saying derogative things on the phone to our office staff. Finally she was offered $800 to pay for the dent in her driveway, by us, not the supplier, in return that she not be one of those homeowners that goes on line writing all kinds of rude stuff against us. If there had been a roof install issue that would have been a different story and we would have rectified the situation, as it would have pertained to her warranty. She refused in writing by email to accept the $800 payment. A month later we get a court notice that she is now demanding the $800. When we came to court, she NEVER said anything to the Judge that there was anything wrong with her roof install, and to date has not ever called and complained that there was anything wrong with her roof install. The Judge wouldn't listen to our side or review the 23 photographs of the driveway and only concentrated on the fact that we asked her not to do what she is now doing. We gave her a check for $900 anyway, ordered by the Judge. We just want the truth to be told. We have learned over the years that the hard working Americans that work seven days a week, are going to encounter people that are going to unfairly besmudged their company. It is absolutely inevitable. Fortunately we do have the privilege of working with the finest family's in the Puget Sound area. Good honest people that make our work fullfilling and will forever make us feel fulfilled whenever we witness their satisfaction with our work."

The contract was signed and received by Chet's on July 31st. I was told it would be 2-3 weeks to start work after the contract was sent in and 2-3 weeks to complete all the work. Work started on the 28th of August. Initially only the roof was completed. Since then only the trim around the windows was been removed. I was told by the office staff at Chet's that the windows would be in tomorrow October the 2nd a full 8 and half weeks after the contract was sent in. To date I have not received any specific information as to why there have been delay's. I have also not received any specific information as to why there were discrepancies between the verbal bid and the contract. I still don't know what the cost difference will be to complete the work and the original bid price. I have sent 3 2-4 page long emails itemizing my concerns and asking very specific questions. I received only one response 6 weeks after my original email that contained only a few yes or no answers and a bid for the additional $1,300 for the chimney cap. Every time I have called (approximately 15 phone calls over the last 2 months) the office staff has said Chet was either in a meeting or out of the office. They have always been very polite but they can't answer my questions and usually take several days to get back to me. Only once have been able to talk to Chet directly. He said he would read my original email questions then go to house and get back to me. His response was the yes or no answers to about 2/3rds of my questions and the extra $1,300 dollars for the chimney cap. I haven't paid them any money yet but I have lost $1,300 in rent money because the job was supposed to be finished 2 weeks ago. I have talked with the office twice today and they were unable to give me any update on any of the discrepancies,  when I can expect the work to be completed or final cost estimate over the contract price.

they did an excellent job, but, since i have a manufactured home, Wa. State Labor and Industries had to inspect the finished product. L&I found two minor discrepancies, and Chet's immediately came out to my house and resolved them. it is now 09/10/2015, and i couldn't be happier with the roofing job. however, i did find a number of roofing nails in my yard, after the job was complete.

I interviewed a lot of contractors, but they were the ones who had experience in mobile home roof. I would not recommend them. I also had them to put in new gutters and they ran out of something that they needed. They had to come back the next day. We had heavy rain that night and all the water came inside the house through the windows because there was no gutters to catch it. I immediately called them and they came out and put the gutters on and they were sorry that they ran out of the materials they needed. I told them when you schedule jobs, you should have the equipment to do it. Couple of days later it rained again and my bedroom window leaked through one of the screws they put in while they put the roof on. But there was no damage. They were supposed to be here at 8 in the morning and they showed up about 11 and it took 2 days and they had to come 3 or 4 times.

They did an excellent job. There could have been better communication on when the guys were coming out and through e-mailing. They stated they sent over the contract, but I did not get it. They cleaned up after themselves, I was very satisfied. The only thing I could say they need to work on is the communication. We plan to hire them in the future to do our garage!

Two workers arrived and one surveyed my problem.  They went up on the roof and begin opening the skylight.  Upon removing the skylight they discovered the problem area and said it was also molding.  They had a new one at their shop.  One person stayed and worked on the skylight and the other went to the shop and got the new skylight.  Within about 2-3 hours, I had a new skylight.  The perfect test was yesterday as it was really rainy and windy and no leaks. Thanks again, Chet's Roofing

They were VERY prompt returning my phone call right away.  They always showed up right on time.  Although I was not personally onsite during all the construction, I was told by the renter that they cleaned up every day as the bathroom work was being done while the property was occupied.  There were two small change orders both of which were handled promptly and professionally.  They also accepted a credit card for payment which was a plus for me.  Their prices were quite reasonable as well.  I would have no problem using them again or recommending them to others.
