We highly recommend hiring Ed for any plumbing you need.
We had a leaky water heater. Replaced with a new unit by another plumber. New unit started leaking too. The plumber who installed the water heater suggested that the cause of the original leak, and the leak of the new water heater was due to a faulty pressure regulator valve where city water meets the house. That plumber quoted me a price of $600 for the fix.
I called Ed. Ed suggested that we rebuild the valve -- that it would be easier and cost less. But parts for the valve were not available. He quoted me a price of $285 for parts and labor to replace the entire valve with a new one.
When Ed got here, he discerned that the valve was probably fine. He suggested that we keep an eye on things, order replacement parts for the valve just in case. Even though I was prepared to pay Ed to replace the valve he suggested that we don't.
Ed was going to leave without charging me (even though he tracked down and purchased a replacement valve and drove 15 miles to get here). I insisted on paying him for the trip. He reluctantly took $50.
Anyway, my plumbing problem may or may not be fixed for the long term. But at the moment things are fine.
Ed is a truly honest plumber. Hire him.
