What a nightmare! Mike, one of the owners seemed completely professional and competent when he came on time for our estimate. That would be the end of professional, competent, and on time. The demolition crew came 5 hours late to remove the old countertops. They were supposed to remove and install in one day, but by then it was "too late" plus some framework needed repair that they "couldn't do". We had to find a carpenter on a weekend, so that I could take another day off from work on Monday so they could come back and finish. I had to cancel the plumber I had booked, and he wasn't available for another 2 weeks. They installed one piece crooked and didn't finish another properly causing a 3rd trip. Communication was non-existent once we signed the contract, and we had to call and email multiple times. They never returned messages or responded to emails. We would NEVER use this company again!

The Hanstone was lovely. The workmanship and customer service was poor. At one home raw wood was exposed after installation, seams were uneven and visible, and the sink purchased from them was scratched. When told they had said the wood would be covered by the Hanstone they denied saying that and offered to fix it for hundreds of dollars. At the other home the seams/ Hanstone were not cut straight, the fake fronts that they removed from the cabinets and reglued fell off, and while the contract said they would do a walk through that never happened. When contacted about the issues they were rude. The contract allowed us to withhold 10% until satisfied. From July to Sept. 2006 we called asking for completion and corrections on the work. On Sept. 7, 2006 they said they would get back to us. No one ever called again. July 2007 they sent a letter asking for the 10%. Both parties sent the 10% and reviewed the unresolved issues. They cashed the checks but never replied.

Failed to turn up on initial day of installation (not notified until end of the day). Rescheduled day, the installation took less than three hours while I was away from the house, but kitchen left in complete disarray (empty coffee cups, plugs drilled out left lying around and four or five razor blades in accessible places & found by my young children!). Backsplash not caulked, epoxy left everywhere. Found on inspection that Granite counter chipped and a crack through the granite supporting the sink (this had been ''fixed'' with screws and epoxy. Plus faucet hole in granite was in the wrong place! To their credit, the owner came by and promised to re-do it (after some persuasion!). The granite was removed (taking most of my lower cabinets with it away from the wall!) and replaced. Seams in a better place, but poor finishing and lousy customer service. Credit card debited for final balance without prior permission and no apology forthcoming either. Would not recommend to other client.

"IN RESPONSE TO THE JOB: WE DID NOT SHOW ON THE SCHEDULED DAY OF INSTALLATION, HOWEVER DID CALL. THIS IS A CONSTRUCTION JOB AND AS STATED IN THE SIGNED CONTRACT THERE IS A POSSIBILITY THAT WE WILL HAVE TO RESCHEDULE. THERE WAS A FISSURE ALONG THE SINK CUT OUT. FISSURES ARE VERY COMMON IN GRANITE, PARTICULARLY IN THE STONE THEY SELECTED. IN ADDITION, THERE WAS NO ATTEMPT ON OUR PART TO FIX IT WITH "SCREWS AND EPOXY." IN FACT, IF YOU KNOW ANYTHING ABOUT GRANITE YOU CAN NOT SCREW INTO IT. THERE WAS A 4 FOOT STEEL ROD PLACED ON THE UNDERSIDE OF THE GRANITE THAT WAS EPOXIED IN ON BOTH SIDES OF THE SINK HOLE. THIS IS COMMON PRACTICE FOR ALL CUT OUTS TO STRENGTHEN THE WEAKEST PART OF THE STONE. FAUCET HOLE MAY HAVE BEEN PUT IN THE WRONG PLACE BASED ON WHAT THE CUSTOMER WANTED, HOWEVER THIS WOULD HAVE JUST BEEN A MISUNDERSTANDING. ALSO, I DO NOT DOUBT THAT WE MAY HAVE LEFT A MESS BEHIND. OCCASIONALLY MY EMPLOYEES GET IN A HURRY BECAUSE WE ARE SO BUSY. THIS IS NO EXCUSE AND I APOLOGIZED FOR THE MESS. AS FOR LEAVING DANGEROUS MATERIALS FOR HER CHILDREN IS JUST NOT TRUE. SHE CALLED OUR OFFICE YELLING PROFANITIES AT MY STAFF (WHO DID ASK HER TO CALM DOWN AND ENDED UP HANGING UP ON HER.) WE ALSO DID CHARGE HER CREDIT CARD THE FINAL BALANCE AS STATED WE WOULD DO IN THE CONTRACT SHE SIGNED. WE ARE CERTAINLY NOT PERFECT, HOWEVER THIS WAS A CUSTOMER THAT COULD NOT BE PLEASED AND I REPLACED HER KITCHEN DUE TO A FISSURE. SHE SHOULD HAVE NO COMPLAINTS, HER KITCHEN IS STUNNING!"

Lee at AE is great. She is approachable and really understands the homeowner experience. She was very patient with my questions and quickly returned my calls. When I caught one of the workers peeing in my bushes, Lee handled the matter right away.

Mike came out and measured for the countertops. We chose a granite sample he had with him for 2 of the rooms, but it didn't go with the 3rd so he said he'd email pictures of other samples. 2 weeks later I called because we hadn't received anything. I was told they couldn't email and that I had to go to the showroom. Installation happened 2 weeks after that. There are .25 inch gaps between pieces of the backsplash and between the countertops and the wall. They left caulk smeared on the mirrors and walls, and damaged some wallpaper. I complained about the installation and they came out 2 weeks later and agreed it was unacceptable. They scheduled a crew for the following week. They never showed up or called. I called again and they scheduled for 2 weeks later. Again they never showed up or called. It took them 3 days to call us back, by this time we did not trust them and did not want them in our home again. We regret ever doing business with them.

THEY CAME INTO OUR HOME ON THE DATE THEY SAID THEY WOULD AND INSTALLED NEW COUNTERTOPS. THEY DID A VERY PROFESSIONAL JOB AND THEN WENT INTO DETAIL ON HOW WE ARE TO CARE FOR AND MAINTAIN THEM.

THEY WERE A LITTLE HARD TO GET INTO CONTACT WITH AT FIRST BUT ONCE OUR TEMPLATES WERE MADE, THE PROCESS WAS MUCH FASTER AND SMOOTHER THAN EXPECTED. THEY WERE INSTALLED IN ONLY ABOUT 3 HOURS AND THE WORK WAS BEAUTIFUL. THE PRICE WAS HALF OF THE ESTIMATES WE RECEIVED FROM OTHER COMPANIES. I WOULD HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS COMPANY.
