ACC Custom Homes

I wanted to know how much the builder would charge as a fee for their assisted builder program.  He never put anything in writing and his price changed from the original contract bid for his "step 1" of his consulting process - where he gathers bids from subcontractors.  During 'step 1' he sits with you to go over the subcontractor bids and have you choose which subcontractors you want to work with.  Most of the contractors only served the Kent area and charged premiums if your project is anywhere in the greater Seattle-Everett-Bellevue areas.  Once I got the bids from his 'step 1' of the process and paid him $5k for that service (again, he kept changing the cost on me) I knew that I couldn't trust working with him.  So with the results of the subcontractor bid process and out of the $5k that he charged me, I was able to find a general contractor that charged for full service construction for a lower price than what he was charging for "assisted construction" where you act as the general contractor and he 'guides' you in the process.  I would never use them again.  I gave them a C as a kind grade, simply because they did complete 'step 1' of the process but the high cost just for that process and the lack of paperwork documenting his costs really felt that overall a C- would be more reflective of what I got from the services.  Do yourself a favor and get a few bids from a general contractor and you will either save money from their service or (at worse) be at the same rate as ACC, but at least you don't have to worry about being your own general contractor (with ACC's assistance).  Just not worth going with ACC for me.
