Cabinet Making
It started out great, with trips to their office in Kennewick, looking at and picking out cabinets color/styles as well as the countertop laminate materials. Very friendly, very helpful and reassuring. Except for a few times that no one was there at the office when we showed up (with a scheduled appt). That was frustrating. Finally they got the cabinets ordered and said they would be there and installation would start by a certain date. When they didn't call us, we called them. After leaving several messages, someone called back and said not all the cabinets had arrived. Two weeks later, they had all arrived. We went to inspect them at the shop. Some cabinets were clearly damaged. More waiting. Once all the cabinets were there and in good shape, we had to wait for the company that was going to do the installation as well as the countertops, lighting, put in the flooring (we purchased it separately), etc. Again, initially the contractor company (Quality Painting) was very nice and friendly when they came and measured everything and gave us the quote for the work to be done, which was fairly expensive. Although initially assured they would be able to start by a certain date, it didn't happen. They didn't call us to tell us this. When we called them, they said they were running behind on another project. They acted like it was no big deal and we shouldn't even be asking them about it. Guess they forgot that most people have day jobs and trying to plan to take time off to be home when they say they will be coming is not all that easy. It was a real pain, dealing with them. As this continued, we contacted Columbia Cabinets, since they had said they would coordinate all of this. They already had our money for the cabinets so the 'service' went downhill after that. They acted like they shouldn't be involved in trying to get the contractor to complete the installation and other work, even though that was supposedly part of what we paid them to do (and one of the main reasons we bought the cabinets through them - thinking it would be less of a headache on our part to have them handle all the details/coordination). As it turned out, we had more headaches than ever and ended up doing almost all the communicating and phone calls, etc., ourselves. Even after the remodeling was all done there were problems. Mostly about the work done by the contractor, but since Columbia Cabinetry was supposed to be working with them and coordinating everything, I feel they are just as responsible for the poor work and poor attitude displayed by the Quality Painting folks. When Quality Painting declared everything as "done," I found several issues of poor workmanship, including screws not properly installed, the backsplash grouting messy, gaps around electrical outlets and more. When I pointed these things out, they acted like that was to be expected and did not even offer to fix their work or lower the final invoice. A few months later, we found they had also not tightened something under the sink, which resulted in an undetected leak and the need to pull up and replace the vinyl floorcovering because of it. We contacted Quality Painting and told them about this - and assumed they would respond quickly and would fix the problem, replace the flooring, etc.since it was due to their error. We finally had to contract with another company to come in and fix things because Quality Painting did not respond to our phone calls and emails. Extremely unprofessional.
