They did a competent job and were very friendly. However when the bill came there was a mysterious charge of $45 for "total material". The office claimed that was for "equipment rental" -- but surely they own their own equipment. This amount was not included in the quote I got over the phone. I have never seen this on a plumber's bill before. For $45 they lost a customer.

It went really well. I have used him before. He is a plumber and he installed the previous hot water tanks 10 years ago. I have 4 units that I live in.

The Art of Plumbing did a great job.   They completed the work in a timely manner and provided a well documented bill to outline the services they provided and a description of the poor work completed by the previous plumber (which we shared with our contractor).   I've already recommended them to friends on a couple of occasions and will continue to do so.

They did a great job from estimate to finish. This company was one of four bids I got for the work and they were neither the least nor the most expensive. I was impressed with the thoroughness of the bid description and I was impressed wth their service because on the first call to set up an appointment for a bid, they asked if it were OK to call the utilities to get location marks made since that would need to be done no matter who did the work. The utilities people came and marked that same day so I know this company immediately followed up without knowing if they had the job. After the pipe was installed, one of the plumbers very carefully made sure that any dirt in the pipe was washed out and then went thru the whole house and replaced or cleaned out all of the faucet aerators. In the days following, at least two visits were made to see that the waterlogged lawn dried out normally. The company was sensitive to how the finished job looked and used tarps for the dirt in order to protect the existing lawn.

Would recommend for any job. Professional and courteous. They replaced our main water line, old blue poly, with 1 inch K copper. Copper was required by code as the line had to be pulled. The original bid was for L grade copper(thinner). However, when material prices were verified w/the supplier, the heavier grade K price had dropped significantly. This was offered at the same estimated price. Our site was difficult to work. The water meter is snugly fit between the driveway and property line, along with electric utilities. This required hand digging in a relative narrow confine to locate the electric line. Also, our site required boring from the meter to the house, underneath a big rockery, then upward through lots of rock and hard clay soil with an uphill rise of over 20 feet in about an 80 foot span. With some trial and error they were able to figure out how to bore and pull the new line. I was impressed with their determination. Once the new line was pulled and pressure tested, it was a simple matter of re-hooking up to the house and water meter. Job came in within the estimate and was done in 2.5 days. Extra time was needed because of the tough site. Considering the heavy machinery used for the boring and the muddy digging needed to locate electric utilities, the job site was left clean and landscaping undisturbed. Job was somewhat expensive but the service was worth it. Highly recommend for plumbing jobs.

After explaining the backup was also causing a leak from the main line into our crawl space, I found it odd that a plumber was unwilling to go into the crawlspace to inspect the piping. I was charged $60 for him to dig for access to the septic tank and $20 for two garbage bags to dump the dirt on. The septic pumping company charges only $30 if he digs.
