"Thank you for your kind review. I’m glad you are happy with the backsplash :) You too were a pleasure to work with. Thanks Travis"
"Thanks [Member Name Removed]! I’d be glad to talk about your bath when you are ready :) Travis"
We felt totally comfortable leaving Travis at the home with access to the front door lock, etc. He was wonderful about communicating with us about the progress of the job. He is super friendly and easy to work with.
Travis went the extra mile to install the shelf I had picked, which did not come with the right mounts or any instructions. He is very handy and helpful.
He has suggested a trim piece to be added to the edges, and we have decided to move forward with that next detail, as well.
I highly recommend Travis for tile work. He is professional, trustworthy, and detail-oriented. His price reflects that level of professionalism.
"Thanks for the great review. I'm glad it turned out as nice as we hoped :)"
1)I had old 1931 black tiles and some new I purchased to blend with that. All the trim need to be added as the floor trim all the way around.
2)White trim needed to be added to the front of the tub because the black trim in front of the white tub would be wierd and too contrasty. However, there was nothing to secure the tile to the front of the tub. Nice.
3) At the the back of the tub was this gap between the old steel porcelain tub and the wall about 4-5", and the tub had this metal lip that stuck up. So there was a support that needed to be cut and built, the stone cut and built. So we're talking about cutting wood, stone, tile, there's no map, no pattern, the tub is shifting around. But by now I've been living in this house for three years and I know nothing is straight and everything has to be jimmied and I'm pretty used to that. I read Travis's reviews and it seemed that he had worked in old houses and had done a lot of work that covered a lot of various things. We did a time and materials invoice to allow for the variances.
Anyway...it turned out beautifully. I had just enough tile. He blended the new and old well. Covered the blemishes. Secured the bathtub, fixed the back of the tub. Blended the stone and it all looks great. Like it was meant to be. The bathroom isn't as cold which is nice going into the winter. So I am very pleased. It looks better than I thought it would. Travis was great to work with and very pleasant and would check in with me if he had to be at another job, etc.. He is busy, so I would schedule ahead.
My project was to demolish my kitchen tile backsplash and retile. I got three estimates and Travis' estimate was $800-$1000 more than the two others. In spite of the disparity in prices I chose Travis because of his good reputation on Angie's list and his asserted confidence in tiling with custom tile. The finished product is lovely. But I think that Travis would agree with me, that the process should have gone smoother. The pattern I picked was complex and with the dimensions of the custom tile deviating from one tile to the next, it was not a job for the faint hearted. While setting the tile, it was very easy to get confused and Travis did. I asked Travis to correct the mistake and after his initial frustration, he willingly reset tile that he had already installed. But unfortunately he had to do this several times. Because he had to reset the tile, the project took longer than either one of us expected and we both chose to work very late one night to get the project completed so that I could have a working kitchen over a long three day weekend. The tiling was finally completed about 12:30 in the morning. We were both exhausted. The final bill was about $100.00 more than the estimate.
I would rate the process a "C" with the caveat that I could be responsible for part of this rating because I chose such a complex and somewhat random pattern and wanted corrections. But of upmost importance, I would rate the end result an "A".
We had hexagon tiles made locally from recycled glass. Needless to say, they were neither uniform in shape nor thickness. Travis took on this challenge with confidence and, as you can see in the picture below, installed them expertly. He was professional, patiently attended to detail, remained engaged and enthusiastic in the project, and tolerated my hovering easily. Each person who has walked through our kitchen has commented on the beautiful job he did. We would highly recommend him for your tile work. However, we are going to need him again in about 2 months, and he is in demand. Hey, Travis! Put us on your schedule for our next project!
"Thank you! I was glad to take on the challenge I'm glad you are as happy as I was with the results :) Travis"
Additionally he recommended a plumber when it looked like we needed a new tub. Unfortunately, we couldn't get his guy in soon enough and had to go with another plumber. Thankfully we had Travis to help us and to alert us to this plumber's shoddy work. We could not have finished this reno without him. Travis' knowledge and patience was a real asset to us as we were stressed with the reno. (one bathroom with a shower means we were showering at the gym during the whole reno)
Unfortunately, as mentioned we had setbacks with our plumber, but Travis worked hard to finish the rest of the work in a timely manner with higher grade materials than our condo originally had. We feel confident our upgraded materials will last for a long time.
He also made sure that the condo was clean during his work, which was great, because we were sleeping near the demo area.
Thanks Travis!
"Thank you! It was a little more exciting than we anticipated... I'm so glad it turned out :)"
We really appreciated Travis keeping track of us through the summer. We thought we'd be ready much sooner than we were and he checked in with us a couple times to see how the project was going.
Once it was scheduled, he came when he said he would and was very respectful of our house. He left the area clean and hauled off any mess that he made.
"Thank you very much! I thought it turned out amazing. I'm happy you are thrilled too :)"
Working with Travis was a joy. He was professional from the estimate phase to the completed project. I am very happy with the outcome and will call him again as needed.
Travis removed the existing material and prepared the area with waterproofing, laid the tile and cleaned up the area all within a few weeks time, even with some inclement weather. He always kept the working area and the inside of our home very tidy and clean.
Couldn't be happier with his work and our patio.
"Thank you. It was a pleasure working with you. I am glad we were able to take care of your tile needs. Thanks, Travis"
"Thank you for your nice review. It was a fun project, outside to norm and came out nice in the end :)"
"Thank you so much for the kind review! And after all this time I really appreciate you taking the time to post up such an informative review of the work that was done. I am glad to hear you are enjoying the work :)"
