Went great, Jim was on time and finished the work on time and on budget. Very knowledgeable and fixed any issues that came up without a problem. He even came back a year later to address some minor issues that needed some attention at no charge.

Jim at Tiger Mountain Tile is real pleasure to work with.  We wanted a custom bathroom and had a lot of specific ideas we wanted to discuss with whoever we hired, including installation of a custom countertop/sink that we had already contracted out.  We got a lot of other bids, but they were mostly from contractors who took a cookie cutter approach to remodeling, offered bids with very little detail and often refused to work with other contractors.     Jim took the time to listen to our ideas and was good at offering some ideas of his own to consider.  He gave us bid that was very detailed.  It was not the least expensive bid, but we pretty much knew exactly what we were getting for our money, which I can't say for the other contractors.  His final cost was exactly what he bid (except for a few minor changes we made that affected the cost), so who knows, maybe he was the cheapest.  As for quality, Jim is a perfectionist in his practice.   He performed the demolition and shower build, including putiing in a linear drain and bench and all the tile work in the shower, on the bathroom floor and accent tile in shower and over the vanity.   He subcontracted out the plumbing and electrical to very competent contractors.   Jim's attention to detail and craftsmanship was very appreciated by us.  He took his time to get everything right and didn't rush through the job like most contractors would.  Of particular note was the way he worked with us with the custom accent tile we had picked out.  We wanted the wall over the vanity and sink to have this custom glass tile that came in irregular-shaped sheets and be placed in a flowing, organic style.   Jim had to use his artistic talents as well as his technical talents to get what we wanted.   The resultig work was stunning!   
All aspects of the remodel seemed to go smoothly from our perspective.   Jim was very flexible in his approach with us.  We hired several other contractors to do the cabinets and countertop/sink and we bought some of the plumbing and electrical supplies ourselves.   Jim accommodated us at every step of the way and we now have an incredibly beautiful bathroom.   We would certainly hire him again and would heartily recommend him to anybody else.

Jim was great, he was very detail oriented and was patient with us while deciding on tile and grout options. He gave suggestions which we found very helpful. We are happy with the end product and will call him for future projects. We only had a few minor problems, which involved installing the shower valve and toilet post tile which could have been remedied if we discussed with him during installation. Other than that lapse in communication we are very happy with the outcome.

In addition to his obvious expertise in his trade, Jim was efficient, reliable, extremely neat, and very easy to work with. When appropriate, he solicited our opinions on particular aspects of the installation and listened to what we had to say. He began work on the day he'd committed, finished on the day he'd committed, and arrived each day at the time we expected him - or called ahead if he had to be an hour or two late due to unavoidable snags.

We appreciated that he specified in advance a reasonable payment schedule - 30% prior to start of work (for buying materials), 30% on completion of demolition, 30% on completion of installation, and 10% after sealing of tile/grout and our final acceptance/approval.

During the demo phase Jim went to great lengths to minimize the dust and disruption. He bagged and removed all debris neatly and cleaned up after himself at the close of each work day. We had set aside a bay in our garage as a work space for his wet saw, etc., but he asked our permission before leaving it set up over one night - and even before he left a few bags of thin-set and boxes of tiles in the garage overnight.

Although we were paying for the tile, Jim worked carefully to minimize waste - even finding a way to leave us a spare tile that might come in very handy in the event of future damage.

The final product is flawless.

I got him from somebody else. It cost about $1,200 and it cost us $400 for the tile for a total of $1,600. He was very professional, no-nonsense, got the job done, and did exactly what he said he would do. It worked out great. He does not do massive projects. He is more into the smaller projects.

Jim is a perfectionist and did beautiful careful tilework and waterproofing, kept the work area neat, cleaned up at the end of each day, and was flexible and good natured about figuring out how to deal with surprises like subfloor problems and making standard shower doors fit non standard space. He was also creative and willing for unusual challenge of replacing dated tile on fireplace hearth with cement surface, made it work.

Jim is awesome. He is very down to earth and really works with the home owner to get the job done to perfection. He explained everything in detail to me as the work progressed. Jim made sure I was involved or informed of every design or material choice, from how grout lines should line up between the curb and the floor to how tile is cut to maintain symmetry. He arrived on time everyday, kept the site very tidy and cleaned up every night. Jim really cares about craftmanship and takes the time to make sure home owner is happy with the results. He is very detailed, very updated on best tiling practices and materials and does not take short cuts. Jim doesn't nickel and dime either even after I changed my mind several times. It was a joy to work with Jim.

I recommend Jim Upton of Tiger Mountain Tile for anyone needing a tile installer. He came highly recommended by a friend who is quite particular and very skilled at DIY projects. In addition, he was also the proposed tile installer from our general contractor, Woodcraft Construction. Jim is a careful and thorough tile installer. He is pleasant, easy to talk with, and honest. I trust him to do a good job and make design choices that will best benefit the customer.
Jim tiled our master bathroom shower, tub and floor. He worked for three weeks installing the tile in our 9 ft by 18 ft master bathroom, which includes a separate toilet room. The tile we selected was a 20x20 heavy tile which required extra effort to cut and install. Throughout the tiling, Jim worked with us to make sure that we were aware of the choices that were available to the layout of the tile. For example, he suggested the floor layout align with the tub surround tile pieces; and shower niches be placed on the wall that was not visible from the entry door – both excellent suggestions which worked out beautifully!

. Our guests are amazed when we show them the awesome bathrooms! I had seen some of Jims work previously and decided I really wanted a quality job for these projects. While price is always a concern I had decided that the lowest bid is not what I needed. Jim is a master craftsman and carefully considers how each piece of tile needs to be cut and installed. He was also very tidy and cleaned up at the end of each day.The end result was very impressive! I highly reccomend Tiger Mountain Tile!
