Not only did they do the job they said they would do, they accommodated a few changes in the middle, with minimum price adjustment. I would use Scribner Electric again in a heartbeat.
Communications by phone and Email were also excellent.
Always told me when they were to arrive - day and time, and very good at answering questions.
Very happy with the work completed. Would use them again.
Our appointment was at 12:30 PM, but the contractor did not show up until 1:30 PM. Apparently a previous job had gone long.
The work went along smoothly, and was completed by approximately 5:30 PM. At that time, the contractor and we left the house at the same time. We had family activities to attend to.
Once home later in the evening, we noticed that one circuit was dead. It happened to be the one that the refrigerator was on. Apparently, something had happened that left that circuit offline while the contractor was there. The refrigerator had been off for about 4 hours before we noticed. We got it back on electricity immediately and called the company.
My call to the company started a couple of actions... one, I was given the contractor's cell phone number to call directly. Unfortunately, it went to voice mail. A couple minutes later, I received a call from the manager of the residential group asking if I had gotten ahold of the initial contractor, and I relayed that I had left a voicemail message.
The residential manager told me he would find someone else and have them at my house shortly. Within 10 minutes, I was being called by another electrician, who was on his way to my home, and needed directions. He arrived, and diagnosed that one of the switches to the generator breakout had been flipped, therefore cutting off that circuit. He was in my home less than 30 minutes, and was on his way. This all ended by about 10:00 PM.
So, though it was an unfortunate accident, it was quickly remedied.
The work had to done in stages because the deck wasn't completed enough to do everything. As soon as was possible they came to install the wiring for the deck lights, placing them in between the joists where the can lights would go. Then they drilled a hole to bring the electrical cable in through the wall and down to the existing light switch. To do this, they had to cut a 4 inch hole at top of the wall inside, near the ceiling to bring the cable in and down. The existing hole for the existing light switch had to be enlarged to accommodate a switch box for 2 switches. They were very neat about the cutting the drywall, cleaning up after themselves as they went.
The next part was moving the dining room light. Again, they were pretty neat about cutting the new hole. When they saw the type of junction box and arrangement of the wires there, they suggested we change the box, since it was old, and it would make the wiring setup safer in the box. We appreciated that they discussed these things with us, and explained what they were doing.
I believe we also had one existing outside receptacle replaced with one in a new cover and changed to a GFI outlet. After that, we had to wait for the contractor to finish the deck and the ceiling to complete the work. As it turned out, that took almost a year to complete. Scribner was very patient with our lack of progress on the deck. I would write them occasionally to keep them up to date. We did pay for the work they had already completed, so there wasn't any payment outstanding. But it was nice to know they were willing to work with us as we dealt with the problems of the contractor.
Eventually, in Sept. 2011, we were finally able to contact them to come out and complete the installation of the can lights in the deck ceiling, and also install the remaining outside outlet and move the light bar in the guest bathroom. That last job wasn't actually on our list to do, in the beginning, but we decided once he was already here to ask him if it was even possible. He took a look at it and was able to move it without any problem. The nice thing was that he was willing to take a look for us, without putting us off for another time. He gave us the feeling that he had time for us while he was here. We wished we had known about him (and Angie's List) when we were remodeling our house in 2006!
