I want to start by saying that I rarely write reviews, unless I am strongly compelled for one reason or another. In this case my customer experience turned from overall good to awful, and I felt it important to voice that here. The initial service to repair my toilet was extremely fast (under an hour), and I was satisfied with the work until I later noticed a problem. My only complaint at the time of the first visit was that I was overcharged. I was told originally over the phone that this job would cost under $200 (in fact they said about $150). Instead I was charged $287.48 (including tax), which is about $100 more than I expected. Since I was put on the spot with this charge I decided not to refuse payment, though I did mention I was told less originally. I think charging near $300 for under an hour of work is greedy and extremely overpriced. With that said, this is not the main reason I am writing a negative review. Shortly after Jim and Mark left my home I noticed that my toilet had been reinstalled slightly rotated with respect to its surroundings (the back wall, the vanity, etc.) The toilet simply was rotated slightly, just enough to notice and look off. I noticed this right away, and later showed it to my wife who also saw it immediately. Unfortunately I didn't notice this while Jim and Mark were still here because they were standing in front of the toilet (effectively blocking it from my view). I called in immediately to report the issue, and even was apologetic for asking them to come back for something so small. But the fact was the toilet was not on straight and it did need to be corrected. The receptionist took my message, and later that same day I received a call from the owner (Jim). He was courteous on the phone, apologized for the issue, and said he would come back to fix it as soon as possible (when he was in the area). Later the next day I received a call from Jim saying that he was nearby and could come to fix the issue within 20 minutes. I happily accepted. This is where things went downhill... When Jim and Mark arrived at my home they were clearly very much in a rush (which I understood considering it was a second visit). When Jim looked at the toilet he immediately said he couldn't see the problem (even when standing directly in front of it). I admit the toilet was only slightly rotated (about 1/4 inch), but that was enough for anyone to clearly see it. The situation quickly became argumentative, and Jim then had me on the floor measuring the distance of the bolts from the wall. According to him if the bolts were equal distance from the wall that meant the toilet was on straight. I was quite angry he even had me on the floor doing this. He was already there and could easily fix the issue. There was no reason to have me measure. Anyone who works on a home knows that nothing is square. No wall is square, and nothing is ever truly equal. The bolts being equal distance from the wall had little to do with the problem. The toilet simply had to be positioned parallel/perpendicular with respect to it's surroundings. This is something to do visually. Anyone with experience working on/in a home should know this. Jim had the audacity to rudely say that I was clearly "obsessing" over this, and had been obviously "staring at the toilet for hours." None of this was the case, and I noticed this problem immediately when I had a clear view of the toilet. Even if this was the case, you never tell your customer these things (even if you believe it). I'm a business owner myself, and I could never conceive of calling my customer's obsessive to their face. Please note this was the first time they had ever met me (the first job I hired them for), and I reported the problem within hours after they left. Jim had me on the defensive, and then apologizing to him for calling him out for something so small. In all honesty, I was apologizing to him so he would do the work and not storm out of my home (which it looked like he was going to do). At this point they said "ok, let's do it" in obvious anger, as I then said, "wait, what does the job involve." I was trying to avoid them from doing a lot of work and possibly making the situation worse. I then learned the source of this issue was simply a little bit of extra room where the bolts attach to the toilet. It turns out that the holes in the toilet for the bolts are quite large. I later learned the toilet could be turned about 1/4 inch in either direction just from the positioning of the bolts in the holes. Mark quickly broke the calking from the day earlier, loosened the bolts, turned the toilet slightly into it's correct position, and then re-calked it. This fix took about two minutes! For what was a two-minute fix, Schuerman Plumbing argued with me on site, insulted me in a patronizing manner, called me obsessive, and had me on the floor measuring bolts. The sad thing is that I was very happy with the fact they came back to fix this, and would have left a positive review had they not treated me in this manner. My reason for calling them back was valid, and the toilet was obviously rotated. There was no reason for them to treat me rudely and argue. They were already on-site a second time. Even if they disagreed with me, all they had to do was quickly fix the issue and be polite. I will never do business with this company again for these reasons. I also believe they are overcharging for their services. No one should have to pay near $300 for 50 minutes of work. ~ Michael
