PineBlock Gutter Protection

We hired Paul DeMars to install gutters and gutter blocks. We were very satisfied with this work. As this work was being done, we spoke with Paul about doing a number of projects for us. For example, an area of exterior siding was leaking. The leak cracked and expanded two areas of expensive floor molding in the master bedroom. Paul repaired the leak, replaced and painted the siding and then replaced the molding and primed the wood. (The priming was so well done that I asked my husband if we really needed the painters to put a finish coat on.) Whatever Paul did - siding repair and repainting, drywall replacement, cedar ceiling repair and refinishing- it looked like new when he finished. There was no visible sign of repair. Aside from the consistent excellent quality of his work, Paul’s charges were very reasonable. The work was done in a timely fashion and he never once failed to communicate with us. We were very appreciative of all the pictures, complete with explanatory notes and arrows, when he opened up the siding and drywall to find and repair leaks. He never failed to leave his work area in a tidy manner when finishing for the day. We recommend Paul highly and would not hesitate to hire him again.

We are very pleased with our new gutters and screen installation. Communication and follow-up was great with always a quick response. Paul arranged to have the old gutters removed before the House was painted and returned afterwards for the new installation. In all aspects of this transaction we found Paul and Mitch to be expert professionals who attended to every detail. Both are excellent listeners and communicators. I investigated several other companies, who over-hyped their products and used high-pressure sales tactics. Buyer beware about businesses offering gutter protection: lots of conflicting claims about the best product, wild price quotes and dubious guarantees. When I contacted Paul, the owner, we had a calm and intelligent conversation about gutter protection options and maintenance of a system after installation. He then came to my home, identified places where the 2-yr old gutters had been incorrectly installed, and worked out a quote for the work. He was open to later negotiation over the extent of the work (only half of the house was under trees, and thus did not need gutter protection) and we signed a contract. The workmen arrived as scheduled---and this included Paul, this time dressed in work clothes---and finished on time. From start to finish, this was a professional and honest interaction, without sales pressure or hype.

Pine Block did an excellent job! The building is too high for me to reach with the extension ladder I have so I wanted gutters that would block debris (even very small debris like pine needles etc.) while still allowing water to enter the gutters. PineBlock Gutter Protection was the right choice. The new gutters have been up for about a month now and are performing beyond what I expected. The water is draining though the gutters and the debris is shedding off the roof just as Paul from PineBlock described. I would highly recommend their product and service.

This entire process went as well as we could want. I received a call on the same day I submitted request for contact online. Paul broke everything down for me. We had our home painted at the same time and PineBlock gave me a clear understanding of how to coordinate timing of the removal of old gutters, which PineBlock did as part of the process, as well as installation of new gutters. The installation was done in one day and we were out of town at the time. Paul sent pictures of finished work so we could see how everything looked. Since install we've had lots of rain to test the gutters and wind too to test how they'll hold up with loads of pine needles. Pine needles was the major reason for us deciding to go with PineBlock system. We're very happy with the set up and the service. I highly recommend PineBlock.

We live in an area of both fir and leaf trees, so during the fall and winter we have constantly battled clogged gutters.  We tried the type with the curled edge but that would always clog with fir needles.  So we went without a gutter cap for years, and, of course, fought with clogged or plugged gutters throughout most of the year.

Pine Block looked like a good solution, and Paul installed the mesh guards on both houses on the property.  He is very professional, communicates well, and does a fine installation of the product.  The mesh does, in fact, provide the protection we need from both the leaf trees and the firs.  We love our trees and, with Pine Block, are able to enjoy them year round without the problem of clogged gutters.  We recommend Paul and Pine Block to anyone facing similar problems.

Our experience with PineBlock was outstanding in all respects.  Paul DeMars was extremely pleasant.  He took time to study our roof carefully, demonstrate how PineBlock works, point out potential issues, and suggest solutions and alternatives.  He and his helper then worked efficiently and professionally to install the PineBlock gutter guards and clean up after the installation.  He replaced a downspout for cosmetic reasons at no additional charge, and returned with caulking and other materials to help solve a problem with the flashing at one end of the roof.  (This was an existing problem, unrelated to the PineBlock.)  He really seems to enjoy working with people and solving problems.  So far, the gutter guards seem to be working perfectly.

They did an excellent job, in all facets. And I can say that as a licensed Home Inspector (retired) who knows what to look for in these types of installations. I met first with friendly, affable Mitch Reed, who professionally completed the measurements and worked out the details of the installation. He was a joy to talk with as we discussed the obvious merits of new gutters versus using our existing, 30 year old ones. I met with, and had bids from, two other NW companies. In terms of design, quality, and terrific competitive pricing, the PineBlock folks have them beat by a long shot.

I wanted to be on site for the installation. But were installing a rain garden/ cistern and because of that and my work schedule, etc., it took a few weeks for us to match up installation dates. But that was no problem. Two gutter installers arrived in the morning, efficiently and professionally completing the gutters, and cleaning up.....an excellent job from my vantage point. They even routed an additional new downspout to the cistern, which was not in the original contract, at no extra cost.  Then Paul DeMars arrived in the afternoon to install the PineBlock microfilter. Also a delightful person. He was thorough, professional, and answered all my questions as we moved around the house, completing the installation before dinnertime.   

In conclusion, I know that no gutter guard system is perfect, especially here in the northwest when dealing with pine and fir needles, leaves, stems, blossoms, branches, twigs, etc. I've seen them on my inspections all over the Puget Sound region. And Paul showed me the minor annual maintenance that PineBlock suggests, with no need for a ladder. But I think the stainless micro-filter PineBlock system is absolutely the best. Highly recommended.

We are surrounded by pine trees and our gutters require constant cleaning.  Due to a recent accident, getting up on a ladder is no longer a good idea for us.

We saw the PineBlock ad in the paper, including the coupon savings, and decided to talk to them.  We were very impressed with our first meeting with Paul from PineBlock.  He was professional, friendly and answered all our questions, including a demonstration of how their gutter guards keep out the dang pine needles.  He spent several hours with us, walking around the house and discussing our specific situation and the actual cost of the service.

Paul was in constant touch with us as we scheduled the work to be done, so we didn't feel like we were hanging out in No Man's Land.  He came with the team on the day of installation, which was also reassuring.  They worked quickly and efficiently.  Paul inspected all the work and made sure it was done correctly.  He gave us some maintenance tips and invited us to call him with any problems we may have.

We highly recommend Paul and this company.  The service we received was fabulous and the system has worked very well.  I don't even notice it on the house.  No more ladders and gunky hands for us, thanks to Paul and PineBlock!

Excellent communication through out the planning and installation. On time and date, work done is top notch. Color matching to the roof and house color is very important step to the process. The prior gutters constantly clogged with cedar needles from a very large Jerusalem cedar.
That problem has stopped with the installation of the pine block. Very nice, I fully recommend this product. It is more expensive than a usual gutter installation but well worth it for the quality and the end to constant gutter cleaning. This is my second time for using this type of product and both times I am very impressed with the installation and performance.

The backlog of prior orders meant we waited longer than I wished, but when the time came the work was doing quickly and professionally with good follow up calls to ensure all was well.
