paid nearly $200.00 for 10 -15 min of work.
My wife is not mechanically inclined however, she compared them to the last person who serviced her grandfather clock.
My wife said the job was rushed and felt they were in a hurry to leave.
Only one nut was tightened on long hand and she only saw one drop of oil was somewhere up top (she is not tall).
She had expected a repair and inspection for the price.
I contacted other Grandfather repair shops in the area and said the price was on the high side and she should have gotten more that what she was paid for.

"completed work as promised. hand nut was missing and was able to replace with new hand nut. adjusted minute hand to strike correctly on hour.. movement was extremely dirty. oiled heavily and made all necessary adjustments. customer seemed very pleased with the results when we left.."

My "grandfather" clock that hangs on a wall had been running a day or so, then stopping. I took it into Aubrey's Clock Gallery. At first he thought I wasn't winding it enough, but after having me wind it, he could tell that the winding wasn't the issue. Then he looked at the back and saw that it wasn't tick-tocking evenly. So he showed me how to adjust that on my own and also told me that the pendulum had been rubbing and that it needed to be hung so that it doesn't rub. I had expected a long stay in his shop and a bunch of money to fix it. But, no, he insisted that the minor adjustment to how the pendulum swings is all that was needed. I didn't believe him, but he was confident that that was all the repair I needed. No charge.
Sure enough, it runs for the full week that it's supposed to run now. He was right and didn't charge me. Happy, happy!

We took in a mechanical mantle clock for servicing. A Ridgeway worth several hundred dollars. It wasn't broken--we just wanted maintenance and service. Not sure who did the actual servicing--whether it was Aubrey or someone else. At one point we were led to believe the clock was sent out for service. When we picked up the clock several weeks later, the back door was flapping open, which I thought was odd. When we got the clock home and went to wind it, we realized the store had not returned the key. This clock had huge sentimental value and it was very discouraging that the key, which my deceased father had used for many years to wind the clock, was lost. We also had to return the clock because it was no longer chiming correctly. After two returns, we were given another key, but the clock has never worked the same. Very disappointing experience.
Response from Aubrey's Clock Gallery
"we have a store policy not to keep the customer's key..especially if it is a generic key that fits most german wall and mantle clocks sold by howard miller and ridgeway...it is usually hand written on the repair tags...we do most of our clock repairs in house but we also do woodwork and large repairs outside of the store...we try to accommodate all customers for all reasons..."

They were fabulous. Came to my house instead of us having to take the grandfather clock all the way to them. Worked around my schedule so he came on a Saturday afternoon, which was perfect for me. He was right on time, had the clock working again very quickly and educated me and my husband as he went. He told us what was wrong, what he was doing and even let us know that his work is under warranty for a year. I will recommend them to anyone I know.

He was good and timely. The price was a little moer than I anticipated, but they did a good job.
