Insurance paid the cost and used their own contractors after water damage was controlled

When I first met with Matt at the house, he checked all the walls in the area of the fire for water damage as well as looking at other items that needed to be done. After the work was done, I met with Randy to go over the complete project to make sure it was done properly. There were a few things that still needed to be done and that was scheduled for the next day. At all times, I was kept aware of what was being done and given choices where appropriate. The first job was to take care of the wet insulation and to take down those walls that were wet. Following that they brought in dehumidifiers and heaters to get out as much moisture as possible. That was delayed until electrical power could be restored to the house. A new panel was required as the old one did not meet current code. The old furnace was taken out and the walls repaired and painted. That included, of course, the studs that were damaged in the fire. A new furnace was then installed. I had a choice of furnace and was able to look over the bids on that. New insulation was also installed in the walls and attic. The unpainted wood in the attic was also sealed to keep the smoke smell out of the air in the house. As could be expected in this situation, my tools were out where I could get to them. All those were boxed up and put away. That way any contractor in the house would not pick up one of my tools to use and then forget to put it back. This is typical of the care Serv Pro provided. Although I would use their services again, I hope I don't have to.
