Mr. Handyman of Gig Harbor & Tacoma

I have called Mr. Handyman to do many jobs at our house. This last time went as expected, perfectly, and I am very pleased with the work. Mr. Handyman charges by the hour, with a big charge for the first hour, then an average hourly rate. One of the things I really like about Mr. Handyman is that you can request the same handyman each time, if you wish to. I don't recall the price of this last visit,, but it is always very fair for high quality, reliable work.

Here's what was done in 8 hours, the exterior light was repaired, the rehung door was installed, none of the rest was fixed. Charged $828. The faucet could not be repaired and it had to be replaced. And the sink was now leaking, the bi-fold doors could not be installed. The repairman was already at 8 hours and didn't have the materials to do the drywall work. When I called the owner to complain, they gave me a credit of two hours. We agreed to change from bi-fold to sliding doors to make things easier. He again assured me that this job should take no longer than 4 hours. He was supposed to remove and replace all the framing for the doors. All he did was take the new doors and hang them on the existing 49 year old track. All the old painted out trim was still there. I paid $371 dollars for this! These guys charge by the hour no matter how long or how inept their repair people are. Stay away from this concept and have someone bid by the job.

Overall, things went well and we're pleased. This company has a 2-hour minimum and once the design/site considerations were discussed, Paul seemed surprised that we expected him to complete this small project in 2 hours. He made a few measure/cut mistakes, but stayed an extra 45 min (w/o charge) and finished the job.
