I only wish I had fired Kelby at NW Waterworks when we fired our former
general contractor (who had hired him) for failure to pay sub
contractors. The first sign something was amiss was that we received an
urgent email from Seattle Interiors who had spent a great deal of time
helping us select the fixtures for the house. Turned out that Kelby's
sister works for Keller Supply in Burlington and he pulled the order and
gave it to her. Andrea at Seattle Interiors finally got paid the
commission she was owed but not without a battle. From there the work
seemed to go OK but we were constantly being double billed for travel
time. It got so bad that we started passing every billing on to our
general contractor to review and make sure the money was owed. In
addition any mistakes that were made during the initial rough in were
dismissed by Kelby as being the fault of the first general contractor
when in fact he had access to a detailed set of plans. On one occasion he doubled the amount of a fixed bid for a water feature saying that it required him installing an extra 20 feet of small piping...so we pulled that work from his bid and gave it to another company who did the work for under what Kelby's initial bid was. We finally fired
him. I only wish we had done it earlier and saved ourselves the money
and aggravation. Definitely a company that is more interested in how
much money they can take than the quality of their work.
