.Not good...absolute nightmare. Thor Black handled the site preparation, storm water and some landscaping for a new construction project on Orcas Island. Among other things, Thor Black he (and North Coast Custom Builders now out of business) had us meet with a storm water "expert" who had "previously worked for the County". Part of the "solution" proposed was a pond off the house in (what we did not know then) was the shoreline setback area. Thor Black knew any excavations there were illegal but did it anyway knowing we (as the home owners) would end up holding the bag. That we did and at tremendous cost. We were forced by the County to "remediate" and fill in the pond he created. Code Enforcement Officer for San Juan County calls Thor Black (and I quote) "a repeat offender". The fun didn't stop there as after we fired him and our general contractor and hired someone who knew what they were doing we found out that curtain drains Black Family had put in used perf pipe at depths below 7 feet (when it is only supposed to be used in applications that are a few feet down). We had to re-excavate and remove all the collapsed perf pipe and install the correct type. I don't think I need to say more. Don't use Black Family for any work on your project or you will likely end up in the same nightmare situation we did.
