AA Side X Side Construction

I had AA SideXSide Construction, owned by Chris Steenbergen, work on my house. I've paid in full and have pictures, e-mails and documents to back what I say. The contract promised two coats of Sherwin Williams Super paint and I was verbally told that the painter was his employee. What I got was one fast, sloppy, incomplete coat by an ex-employee now subcontracting as C H Painting. The painter told me that it was a heavy coat. They trashed my yard, leaving it for me to clean. I told Steenbergen he owed me two complete and proper coats per contract and Sherwin Williams specifications. I saw later on the lien release form that C H Painting was only paid $2,900.00 for a paint job that based on other bids I received, should have cost at least $7,200.00. Steenbergen had to scramble to find more paint and a second paint subcontractor, at his expense. The contract also called for replacing the trim at the top of the chimney chase, just under the rain cap. The installers used the wrong size trim, such that the flanges of the rain cap were now gapped. Instead of fixing the trim, they smashed the flanges down in an effort to make them lay flat. The flanges were now bowed and buckled. The installers used screws to try and hold the flanges down. After the sidingwork was done, the first painter started pressure washing. While pressure washing the entry way of the house, there was water spraying into the garage. Turns out the siding installers did not water proof or seal around ther entry way. The new siding and trim had to be torn off and proper waterproofing and sealing installed. To sum it up, Steenbergen presented a contract and verbal promises that appeared to justify the price of the contract. But once the contract was signed, he tried to cut corners and not deliver on work I was paying for.

AA Side X Side did a fantastic job on our home. Not only were they the lowest bid, their workmanship was phenomenal. Great group of installers and painters. Our neighbors were so impressed with how beautiful it turned out, that they also did 4 other homes in our cul de sac. We sold that home and moved into a new one. AA Side X Side has now done a second home for us. You will not be disappointed if you hire Chris and his crew.

His crew he brought in really knew what they were doing. Chris is very professional. He took me to another job site to review the work they were doing. Crew is extremely professional. I have already recommended him to several friends and have had great feedback. He is patient and always available to answer questions.

Customer service is outstanding. The quality of work is above and beyond. I had many concerns surrounding this project. Chris was excepional at explaining, educating, and reassuring me before and throughout the project. The crew was exceptional at showing up on time and staying within the time allowed to finish the job. I am also revy happy with the product that we wnet with. In addition, Chris handled all communications with my HOA which was phenomenal. I have neighbors stopping by to admire my home and enquire about who did the work. I strongly recommend Chris as this is a true professional.

This company did a amazing job on our house. Chris, the owner was always accessible and addressed all our concerns promptly. Luis and the whole crew are excellent, friendly, hardworking and most important very professional. This company has performed our project way beyond our expectations. Many of our neighbors mentioned how nice our house look afterwards. We will definitely recommend this company to our friends and family.

This is an update to my initial review in 2014. After 2 yrs of the install, the T1-11 wood siding has deteriorated and there are now delaminations in numerous sections of the siding. I applied a quality oil based primer after the install and applied 2 coats of Glidden Exterior paint the following summer. When I reported the problem with the company on Oct 2016, they sent a rep to inspect the problem. He identified the problem as delamination due to moisture in the wood. His solution was to apply a heavy coat of paint and another coat the following year

We used AA Side x Side for a very large project including removal of 2 layers of old siding, replacement of siding and trim over our entire two story house with Hardie Plank, removal and replacement of all our windows, and new exterior paint.  We got several bids from other companies and their estimate was on the low end of comparable bids.  They did an amazing job!  The crew was friendly, helpful, and hardworking.  Chris, the owner, was always accessible and addressed any concerns promptly.  They did a great job of weatherproofing our house during the installation despite some truly awful winter weather, and the finished product looks wonderful (our neighbors have stopped us in the street to mention how nice it looks). They added flashing to our porch and made several other improvements to truly weatherproof the house that went above and beyond the original scope of work.  The window installation happened quickly and looks great on both the inside and outside of the house.  Highly recommend!

The owner, Chris Steenbergen, was very responsive and answered all questions.

The installers, Louis & Manuel, were efficient, fast, and exact.  The job was done in day and looks great.

It went well.  AA side x side had the cheapest quote (out of four companies) so I was a little worried about the quality.  But the two guys did a great job installing the Hardiplank cement siding.  It was a huge improvement over the LP siding.  The paint job was good, and they worked with me because I wanted a separate color for the front door.  I would definitely use them again.

The siding installation went well all though it took longer than antisipated due to a small crew size, mainly just one person istalling the siding. He did a really nice job on the installation of the siding. The painter was slow also but the one problem that we had was the deffinition of two coats of paint as called for in the contract. They wanted to call one heavy coat equvalant to two coats and I disagreed. They did do some extra work with a small upcharge. Over all the project turned out really good looking.

We purchased a house last October that was in great shape in side, but the exterior had been let go.  It was badly in need of paint and the cedar siding on the south side was warped and damaged in several places.  The trim around the door had water damage.  
Chris, the owner was very friendly and professional.  He gave us a fair bid and agreed to contingencies based on the extent of damaged found when they began replacing boards.  He was very flexible in scheduling the work around our plans.  
Mike, the painter was very knowledgable, friendly and did an excellent job.  The house looks great, with crisp lines.  Our neighbors are having work done by this company soon.  We would highly recommend them.

These folks are professional in every way, they did exactly what they said and even some that wasn't part of the bid (repairing some dry rot).  Chris,the owner, is honest and fair. Kevin, the installer, is an awesome craftsman whose only concern is the customer's satisfaction. The painter, Mike, is also an excellent painter and made sure I was happy. I can't say enough about how pleased I am with their workmanship.

Do to some health issues from one of the crewmembers the remaining individual was outstanding and worked quite hard including weekends pushing to completion timeframe out an extra week. Chris communicated well and stopped by to check on the project. The painter had to return for some simple touch ups but it was barely noticeable and the weather was a bit of a challenge throughout. Very polite and respectful crew.

They did a good job. They were personable. I just had to wait for a while before they came in to do the job.

Overall it went very well.  Their pricing was competitive and the finished product looks very good.   The siding on the weather side of our house (2 stories) was removed and a section of dry rot was replaced quickly and efficiently.  New Hardiplank lap siding was used to replace the old siding.  Chris also installed a bathroom fan and vent for us so that we knew that it was sealed up correctly after the siding was installed.  We did have some issues with the quality of the painting that was done, but when we talked with Chris about it he made sure to have the painter come out and make things right.  Overall very happy with the quality and price of the work that was done.

Originally Chris and his team came to my home to replace two sides of my house which had failing LP siding.  Everyone was friendly, courteous and prompt.  The weather, unfortunately, had turned just after the project started, but everyone persevered in spite of the rains to get the job done.  During the middle of the project I asked Chris if he could replace all of the LP siding, rather than just the two sides, to which he readily agreed.  A price was successfully and easily negotiated, and work continued on.  Some dry rot was encountered and replaced, for which I am very grateful and relieved.  Chris even agreed to replace all of the exterior light fixtures for me, which was a bonus as far as I was concerned!   During the replacement of the siding we discovered not one but two wasp nests but as soon as they were dealt with work continued on.  The paint color that was used was exactly as I wanted, and appears to be very well done.  There was also some minor dry wall repair work required inside of the house which the painter also took care.   Overall, I would highly recommend AA Side X Side Construction Inc.  I found Chris to be extremely reasonable in his bid, as well as easy to work with, and so far I have been extremely satisfied with the work that was done.

These guys were great to work with. Chris came out right away and looked at the work that needed to be done. He spent at least an hour with me and answered all my questions. He was very knowledgeable. His price was lower than everyone else and the quality of work was top notch. I will use these guys again.

They are excellent. They were wonderful. They did have to leave one day because of the 90 degree heat and they were feeling sick to their stomach. They were really working hard and came back on Sunday to finish it up. We liked the boss. We liked the owner very much. They were truly hard workers. This team just stuck to their work and done a good job. The owner was very helpful and just a nice person that you would want to do business with. They price was excellent and the best we found. Everything looks just great.

Chris and his crew did a good job overall and I'd recommend them but suggest paying close attention to the details (as with any provider). The wood product was as good as one can find these days and it was installed competently.  An area of sill plate rot was exposed during the job and quickly and effectively repaired though it took some discussion to come up with the best way to do the fix.  One of the windows ordered from the manufacturer came with four panes when it could have been ordered with two or even one for about the same price, a detail that was overlooked and could have been addressed more effectively.  The crew worked hard, they were able to start and complete the work as planned, were responsive in doing some small-scale siding replacements in addition to the large wall areas, and cleanup was complete. Overall a positive experience.

They were outstanding once they got out to the house. Took them a month to show up, business must be good. They do great work, there early every morning- worked late every day. The side looks great. They found some bad timbers and replaced them no problem. Would recommend this company to anyone.
