WILKIN'S PLUMBING INC

Reliability and professional conduct are important. My thoughts are that a phone call from Wilkens to reschedule, in advance of the day of the scheduled work, if possible, would be expected from a professional who cared about his clients and his work.

He came out right on time, and opened up the drywall in the garage, and couldn't find the leak... It turns out the shut off valve was leaking, not the pipe. He did not charge us for figuring that out!

They came in within their estimate. They were very good. Initially there was some poor communication with the office, but after that they were on top of it. they were very nice and friendly. They were efficient in their work and worked hard to get it done quickly.

We discovered our hot water tank was leaking I did some research on Angies List and called a few places. Wilkins was the only one who'd come out and give a free quote. I set up an appointment with them, they showed up on time, were quick, explained the quote, it was $750 + tax. I also called Beacon out, they charged $50 just to come out and give a quote; handed us the quote no explanation etc; their quote $1498 + tax. Obviously I called Wilkins, they got us in the next day, again showed up on time, they were very friendly and professional, everything looks and works great. I couldn't be happier. Pros: James came in, assessed the situation quickly, left to get parts, returned in the afternoon and the problem was fixed in about 30 minutes. He was nice, professional, and seemed competent and honest. Cons: James was supposed to arrive at 7 am. I finally called about 9 am. He arrived at about 9:30. He did apologize a few times for being late. I think that happens sometimes with plumbing, so I understood since he was apologetic. Of course, I would appreciate a phone call if he was going to be that late.

The job started off just fine. James was very nice, professional. Showed up and did the work. When unexpected things happened, like exterior faucet not working, it was never repaired nor was our phone call returned to reschedule. Some things left unfinished and not mentioned, earthquake straps not installed on water heater and were left in basement in the box and unmentioned. Our (good) shovel was inadvertently taken (ours looked just like theirs) and was denied when we mentioned it. All in all not a bad experience, just irritating that details were left dangling and phone calls and emails not returned for final small things. I suspect, mostly because it was not cost-effective for them to make a return trip since we are on an island. They just need a better followup and customer service system.

HAS DONE A GOOD JOB BUT IS TAKING AWHILE TO GET FINISHED UP SO THAT PLUMBING INSPECTION CAN GO THROUGH. DIDN'T PASS THE FIRST TIME SO HE HAS JUST COMPLETED THE REMAINING WORK.

JAMES WAS VERY NICE AND PROFESSIONAL. HE ARRIVED AT THE TIME HE SAID HE WOULD. HE CLEANED UP ANY MESS. VERY FRIENDLY AND COURTEOUS. EVERYTHING WENT WELL.
