MIKE'S LAWN & MAINTENANCE

We have watched Mike's Lawn mow our neighbors lawn for years, where they are fast and clean, so we hired them to weed and remove deeply-imbedded rogue grass from 3 parts of our garden. Here is the main recommendation of this review: DO NOT USE MIKE'S LAWN UNLESS MIKE THE OWNER VISUALLY INSPECTS THE SITE AND DISCUSSES WITH YOU TO UNDERSTAND THE SCOPE OF WORK. The only dealings we had with Mike were over the phone, he never came to the house (we are always home) to see and discuss what we wanted. We needed removal of grass AND the roots (which in some places were deep and would require extended hand time), not just raking the surface. With no visi-with-discussion, we believe what he communicated to his team was way under what we needed. It took several discussions with the Team Leader to help them understand our needs - this disappointed the team when they can to understand it would take much more time than they thought. Even then, we feel they under performed in order to finish. To summarize: if you need a service to mow and trim lawns, Mike's Lawn is excellent. But if you need specific yard work we don't recommend them unless Mike the owner visits your site with you.

Mike's does a great job of cutting and edging my lawn every two weeks, and also keeping the weeds down.

Great, Mike's crew is very good and they keep my yard looking nice.

Everything is going good. 

I was having him come out once a month.  It always looks very nice when he's done.

Excellent job pruning, clean up and overall work. Great attitude, no slack time all in 80 + temp.

It went no where, he never made an appointment to walk the yard and discuss what needed to be done, he did a drive by and said the large had a lot of growth, hence the reason we need yard maintenance when we asked him for a bid, he did not send one and then did not send one, when we called him again he started talking about sick children and a guy out whose wife had a baby and all he really needed to say, I don't want to do your yard I am too busy. Mike was very difficult to communicate with and unprofessional.

We moved on to another Angie's list recommendation and they called right back and made an appointment to stop by Tuesday the 8th. I hope this goes better.

Absolutely great to work with. Everything was overgrown; they expertly pruned the shrubs and manually cut off 4' of our 16' high thuya tree fence surrounding our property. Those trees were too large in diameter to use a hedge trimmer, so it had to be done manually - each tree. It was so perfectly straight it was unbelievable. The garden beds were weeded and raked as well.

Did a very good job. We have used them several times and found them very reliable.

Overall, it turned out really well. They were two hours late for their appointment. They did not call. The workmanship was good. The finished product looked really good. I was happy with it. They are a little expensive and I would use them again.

Owner/manager does not personally verify the work of his crews. He and quot;reliesand quot; on his crew of and quot;20 yearsand quot; to take care of it - our experience is that his crew is lazy. Would not get out ladders to dead-head rhodie bushes that were above their heads. Used this as excuse for the fact that they could not complete the job within estimated hourly amount bid.
Crew will leave a project undone for weeks at a time. Our experience was our front Laurel hedge was trimmed only the first 10 feet of the 40 feet visible in our front yard.
Owner appears to be stay at home dad who always has his 2-year old son in tow with him on client appointments which distracts him a bunch and so he never truly gets all the details of the conversation.
When walking property on one occasion with us for some extra items we wanted done, owner did not even have pen and paper with him to take notes on what we wanted accomplished - when asked if he was writing down the information so nothing got left off the list of 8 or so things we wanted done, he finally admitted he did not have anything and I had to provide it for him.
Owner asked us to monitor his guys on a Saturday for a project we had agreed to so we were sure work got done - we thought that was what we were hiring him for.
Does not use email or text to communicate - again got excuse that with a 2 year old son he just does not have time to use computer.
VERY UNPROFESSIONAL -- used slander toward us when we did not agree with his assessment of the situation.

He does a good job. We won't use him now till spring.

It took a week for Mike to get me schedule in. But once that was set, Mike's crew did a thorough job of aerating the lawn and raking up the coring plugs.

This is a busy company and it was unclear when they would be able to come out. Got a call the same morning they wanted to come out so glad I was home! Three man crew arrived with professional equipment and did a great job. They were hard working and knew how to wrangle the equipment. No time wasted.

I have used them for several years, and they have proven to be very reliable and trustworthy. They do great work, too.

I think their price was a little high but the tree was leaning and I didn't have time to shop around for other providers. They did a good job. They cleaned up after the job. They really were great. They were careful not to damage my property or my neighbor's property. I would use them again in the future.

Crew of three arrived in late morning, worked thru evening. When there was more yard waste then would fit in their truck/trailer, a second crew showed-up to to take the excess. Yard looks very nice.

We were treated very respectfully by both the owner and all the workers. They listen well, and earnestly try to accomplish each task exactly as you have asked. Even if you were not as specific as we are, I'm sure you would still be pleased with their work. They are good at what they do! Very hard workers and very pleasant as well. We will definitely re-hire them next spring!

Owner came out and gave estimate. Work date set several weeks in the future both due to my and his schedule. Owner called several days in advance to confirm. Crew showed up on time, worked hard, I was not there for most of the day, but they did a good job with good cleanup. It may be awhile before the next stage of 'clean up' but I plan to go back to them.

They do pretty good work and are reasonably priced for the service that they do.
